Do I need source books too? Or just the rulebook?

Re: Source books????
Hurricane you may not need either. I have a quick reference cheat sheet for serious players.
I have all of the source books, so if you want to preview any of them to see the value, let me know and I will bring them to the store.
But at the most you would only need the main rule book.
Now it just a matter to getting Joel to re-stock, I believed he is sold out of the rule books. Here I do not blame him for re-stocking until he is sure of demand as it is a bit pricey ($50).

Re: Source books????
JC is right, ALL of the armies are listed in the rule book. The main rule book is totally complete. You do not have to buy 20 or more codex/battle books to know what your opponents have, which would cost you hundreds dollars.
The main rule book is the first and last resource publication you would need.
Is that not great!
The other source books are more towards the prior system, but yet they still can be used with the current (you don't have to throw them away). And I plan to incorporate them into a campaign in the near future.

Re: Source books????
So, there's the regular rulebook (for the Skirmish version of the game) and then there's the War of the Ring rulebook (for the Fantasy-like game).
Right?
Right?

Re: Source books????
And you DO NOT need both! Just the "War of the Ring".
But books like "armies of middle earth" can still be used because the stats are the same.

Re: Source books????
Well, aren't some of the game mechanics different, or can you no longer play the skirmish version?
I always liked the skirmish aspect of the game, is that gone away forever now with War of the Ring?

Re: Source books????
Skirmish is still supported. 2 different ways to play the same game. The Skirmish version is better if you are playing smaller games but honestly I find WoTR to be a much more enjoyable game.

Re: Source books????
I plan on supporting all of the different scales.
There is a Epic/Warmaster system for LotR.
There is a Fantasy system "War of Ring" (the new system).
There is a Mordheim system "Lord of the Rings" (the older skirmish version).
And there is the role playing aspect (the journey/supplemental books).
