First Game

Well, had my first WoTR yesterday and i have to say it was pretty fun.

I teamed with Tom and his Mordor Orcs on a 1400 point per side battle, on the other side there was a Big dwarf army and some Rohiram horsemen.

I like the you go i go approach, makes the game more dynamic and adds a very nice touch to the tactical side. Many instances i found myself not moving a unit in the open because he was going to get to shoot them before i shot him and so on with other movements and stuff.

The magic is nice, Tom had a shaman and was using it, wasnt over the top or anything.

Lurtz KICKS ASS !!! he's a mean motherfugger, placed him on a unit of Uruk warband and they chewed through a big Rohiram formation and i only lost like 3 guys, he's so nasty is not even funny. His ability to kill multi resilience creatures in one blow is insane, he could easely take out ANYTHING on one round of combat..dragons..balrogs..oliphants.

The Troll was meh, maybe cause he was fighting some dwarfs behind giant shields that he wasnt very effective. Gotta get more practice with him agsinst something thats not a brick wall.

The wargs ddint do anything, i placed them bad though and the terrain was working against me.

Pike men(orcs) did ok, didnt see much action cause they wre stuck bs the same dwarf wall as the troll.

All in all i like the game a lot, it goes fast, it was my first game ever...didnt even read the book much..and even with LOTS of questions on rules we got 3 full turns in.

Victory for the Forces of Evil !!!! The Rohiram pests were wiped out to a man and we feasted well on man and horse flesh !!

Vault Warden Dwarves are near impossible to kill! Thier defense is better then a Balrog! You will bounce off them all day long.

I hate Lurtz, he has to be in the top ten, if not the top five, most all time powerful Hero's. Thats why I have him.

Blargh ! those are disgusting, is like hitting a brick wall, defense 10 ! Is ok, the Legion of the Red Hand shall feast on dwarf, elf and man flesh, no matter how big of a shield they are hiding behind !

Luis, you killed ALL of the Rohiram and... how many Dwarfs?

They also kinda screwed themselves cause the HUGE dwarf blocks never got into the fight, the Rohiram went in with no support, by declaring Heroic charge i was able to charge him before he charged me. He came so close to me that all i needed to roll was a 2 for the distance ! Take the charge bonus away from cavalry, and they are nothing.

Well. I kind screwed myself on that game cause i wasnt expecting lurtz to be so freaking amazing for one thing. If we wouldve had more time, that game wouldve gotten interesting.

I am happy tho my Dwarves looked at your uruks and troll, and kinda just told them no.

Lol, they sure did, they pluged that hole like they owned the place.

it wouldve been interesting, there were LOTS of dwarves waiting behind those Rohiram. Lurtz is a bit broken.

My doubles game with Mike vs. JC and big bro was just getting interesting.

Next time i play, ill set up the blockade scene and take a picture of it for you. The vault wardens look so menacing on their trays.

well....its not quit so simple for lurtz to take out a dragon or Mumak or w/e... He beats the resiliance but still has to roll on the various hard to kill tables.
