Move to new point size.

Alright, so with 8th edition comes the fact that we are faced with these percentages. With this in mind, the size of our standard tournament games needs to change IMO, as 25% of 2250 is 525.5, or something odd like that.

Rather then go larger in game size (which would make it harder for new players to join in events and tournaments and also lead to more sillyness and over the top playing) I would suggest we go down to 2000 point games.

Rather, go BACK to 2000 point games. I don't know when we switched to 2250, or why, but before we used to always play 2000. 2000 is simple math (25% is 500 pts) and it still keeps the feel of the game.


So, what say you? I vote for 2000!

Its okay with me my army is big bulky infantry armys of marauders which are really cheap any way little hard on the characters tho but its all good

I think we should wait and see what size tournaments start adopting as I'm sure that's what we want to learn how to play.

2500 would work better for me

Aren't the army lists in the 8ed book shown to be 2250? Seems like that is what GW is pushing for a new standard. 2000 would have made more sense for nice round numbers but it fucks up some armies selections.

2000 points messes up with armies with older books, some o fthe characters are pretty damn expensve, and so are the individual units. Leave it at 2250 or scale up to 2500.

I'm content with 2250 or 2500.

I agree. Personally, I'd prefer bumping it up to 2500 or 3000. The reason is that the game encourages more use of cheap heroes and the like, while also pushing for big infantry blocks. In short, it seems like the doors to army building were flung open and now the 2250-2000 area seems confining. Then again, just my opinion.

I always liked 2000 pts because it forced you to make some hard decisions. I can usually fit in all my toys in 2250.

Exactly why I like 2000.

In 2000, you actually have to make choices. I mean, sure we can go higher and higher, but IMHO it gets silly after a certain point. Sure it makes more sense, and you get more stuff, but the games will take longer and also just get more cheeseified.

They show all the games at 3000 points because they want to show off all of the special characters and awesome units and such. GW seems to feel bad about taking you know, a Bloodthirster in under 3k points.

But hey, I'll play higher. Just like Matt said, I get more of my toys in at higher points.
