Vallejo paints cost about a $1 less than GW's crap. They even have their own version of the foundation paints. Their prefaced by Heavy(Heavy red, Heavy blue, ect.)

I can't find heavy dicks anywhere. I wanted all of my Plague Marines to be dick colored, but how can I manage that if I can't find the proper basecoat for dicks?

Sigh.

You may need two bottles for the scorched brown. Desert yellow for Italians, perhaps two bottles there as well. What do you think Nick? Sunburst yellow for Asians...half a bottle, at most. Twisted Evil

Half a bottle seems generous. I'm guessing we'd need a whole can of spraypaint for a black one?

Hey Kyle , I've been thinking about doing the same thing. What's a good brand(s) to get, or what type should I look for?

I've been happy with the Apple Barrel paints. Come in a decent array of colors. Theres a brand called Folkart or something like that with "folk" in the name that is awful, the stuff is like paste and needs to be thinned before use. Theres some others I just found at AC More that I haven't tried yet though.

Yea I got some from walmart to try and they basic paints were a pain in the ass to work with.

I've had good luck with Apple Barrel, though never tried their metalics. The price for the amount you get is great, .69-99 cents for a big bottle over the $4 for a tiny GW or Privateer Press pot?

i found that Vallejo is crap for using as wash, for if you add water it running like a motherfucker...but then again i get most of my gw paint thru joel when i have store credit.
Garry how is the reaper master set for mixing and what not. i have heard good things about them but never came them a shot.

But Vallejo does make several out of print GW paints and for metal it is great. also i found it covers motel models after primers atad better then gw do to the fact that it is a heavier paint.

I love the paint is great for making washes and really good when you do wet blending. Also very good for the high lighting and all that, The only thing I wpould say is GW base paint is better for the first coat on black primed models and then I use the reaper master paints. I have had most of theese bottle for over 3 years and they have not dried out either, something GW does. My wife bought me the whole color series it is like 300 paint colors a little over three years ago and they are still kicking. I also got to say if you are a person that uses a lot of matalics I use GW and use the reaper for the dulling down with a final GW highlight. They sell a bottle for flow improvment that makes paint go on great and they have other paint aditives to use for differnt paint methods.

I hoipe this helped
