Re: How: Do you strip paint off plastic models?
home depot is the cheapest and you can buy it in a gallon sized for your whole army
Re: How: Do you strip paint off plastic models?
Home Depot or Lowes for Simply Green. You want the concentrate.
I'd strip metal, but plastics break in the process. Might be easier to just spray prime black over the current paint job.

Personally never had plastics break with simple green. I have never left it in there longer than overnight. I've stripped everything from guardians to waveserpents and wraithlords.

Re: How: Do you strip paint off plastic models?
what hurts plastic is acitone*sp?* which is commenly found in paint thinned and fingernail polish remover but not in simple green or degreasers
Re: How: Do you strip paint off plastic models?
I didn't mean they would crumble, I mean that I break the glue points when scrubing the gunk off after the bath.

What kind of Simple Green is it that you use specifically because there are lots of varieties like car cleaner ones and spray ones. I'm guessing anything of a gallon size would be good for a whole army.

Re: How: Do you strip paint off plastic models?
or if you run a kitchen like me you can order kitchen kleener(btw that is spelled right) with is about 80 bucks a gallon from cbi(double that price if you get it from sysco) it is a highly concentrated degreaser that is made for removing and cleaning grease traps and hood vents.
i used it to strip some models off ebay that was just horrible.i mean they had about 6 thick coats of spray paint and the stuff removed it to brand new plastic in 30 mins but careful you don't get it on your skin,it dryed out and broke my skin till it was bleeding with in 5 minutes and i have thick skin where regular degresser and acitone wount even dry mine out so if you use it bee very careful.

Re: How: Do you strip paint off plastic models?
I'd like to report that I went to go buy Simple Green and it was $16.99 for the gallon so I got Purple Power for $5.99 instead. I left some plastics in there for 10 hours and I used hot water and a hard brush, came out like butter. 12 more are in there for when I wake up tomorrow.

Just spilled a paint pot on my venerable dread. Spent over five hours on it. Oh well, time for simple green.
