Re: Legal Forge World models; ohh crap!!!
This isn't going to change a single thing. As the last part of the entry notes, this is going to always be the case, and big tournies are not going to let FW models be "legal" for use.

Yep, guess that it is and should always be up to the TO. Though the only thing that could change it would be inclusion in WD or allowed in 'Ard boyz.

Re: Legal Forge World models; ohh crap!!!
Still in any case the difficulty of getting FW product here will alway be off putting for any TO as many will see it as unfair and any good units will be seen as being for those who can afford the high price. FW model use even in tournies is more common in Europe since its easier and cheaper to get.

It is not that hard to get FW....all you have to go to there site and order. lol some of forge worlds stuff costs the same a GW. All Gw stores can order/carry forgeworld as well. just becuase sunshine does not carry it does not mean it is hard to get. And when you compare it to GW prices forgeworld is not that crazy. I there is nothing wrong with FW when you compare the rules and units against the shit that is currently in main codexs

It's not that hard to get, but it doesn't change the fact that FW stuff is much more rare to find in use in the US. Also shipping from FW has always been ridiculous. The prices are not bad on the actual products, but the shipping as well as currency conversion rates causes them to often come out much more expensive especially larger the item ordered. The final total price for product from FW will tend to always be more, and most of the specialized models are more expensive than typical GW stuff even if it's only a bit more, and with the added shipping costs it becomes often 30-60% more you are paying for product.
GW stores themselves are really in the minority in the US also, whereas they are often the only game stores for many places in the EU, so FW stuff is once again more common for them.
General consumer has no idea about FW, they buy what they can get at their local store, or see on the GW site, or in the official codex. FW stuff also requires FW's books to even know about using said units generally so that's another expensive for those wanting to import just the books.

Re: Legal Forge World models; ohh crap!!!
Kyle my two dreads that i ordered last year from FW cost the same as if i got two the metal ones from GW. This includes shipping/sales tax. I do agree with you about GW stores being rare here in the US, basicly outside of England its hard to find one. And the General consumer of GW products does know about forgeworld. Thru white dwarf, Games-workshop website, fourms, Games-Workshops facebook/twitter, podcasts, talking with other gamers in the store.
and the books need a cost cut for sure, with out a doubt.

Maybe in an Apoc game, but you don't use optional troops in 'Ard Boyz. Legal Codex only.

That's why I meant "if they did include them rules". Will figure something out in the future. As always, people will have a choice to participate and enough time to get their army together.

Metal dreads? are you buying the overpriced oop metal kits or something, as the dreads are plastic kits for years now? Also just looking at their site, 2 dreads plus shipping from the UK is far more expensive than just buying 2 dreads locally or buying them from the countless online retailers giving me 20-25% discount plus free shipping. A dreadnaught is about same price in many cases to a GW one, but that is not including the shipping. But that is also one of the rare cases, as the average infantry models cost much more and are closer to the failcast line that is gouging consumers, and for units that you will want to buy in large amounts. Many of the specialist models also cost quite a lot.
The enthusiast know of FW, but the casual consumer has no clue. FW stuff is simply rare, you see only a tiny percentage of folks in the US using them, and when you do it's the hardcore players. They look in their codex and see these units not listed, them not being allowed in tournies, so they just brush it all aside.

Ugh. I want the new Hornet rules/point cost but I don't want to buy a book for one model. Can't seem to find it anywhere.
