First round of Skaven Rumors

Clanrats, same unfortunately

Stormvermin S4 base, ASF, cause fear

Rat ogres S6, count as having additional hand weapons, reroll all psych tests, stubborn while packmasters are
alive

Giant rats, reroll all psych tests, stubborn while packmasters are alive

Slaves, can’t be joined by characters otherwise the same

Ratling gun now S5, move and shoot, points drop

Warpfire thrower, move and shoot but inexplicably goes up by 15 pts ensuring its still not taken

new ‘lightning gun’ weapon team, as warp lightning but in the shooting phase

Poison wind globadiers, points up slighty but d6 hits per ‘hit’

Night runners/gutter runners option for brace of warplock pistols

Jezzails, option for sniper champ, can pick out model

plague monks, frenvy, hatred and poisoned attacks

plague censor, 2A, S4, censor wound on 4+ regardless of Toughness, option for ’super censor’ on a champ,
wounds on 2+

Warplightning cannon, same but thankfully follows normal war machine rules

new rare ‘really big rat’ (!!!), US5, good stats, regeneration, stubborn, may tunnel and charge in any direction on
turn it appears

Warlord, same

Grey seer, knows all spells, unlimited warpstone chunks

Vermin Lord, doombull stats, lvl 4 wiz

Master Moulder, grants regeneration to any moulder unit he joins

Assassin, comes w/ weeping blades but still overpriced and easy to kill, interesting option for sniper rifle jezzail

Warlock. same but warp-lightning S6

Plague Priest, any may be upgraded to lvl 2 wiz, any pestilens unit he joins never loses frenzy

sacred standard of the horned rat, cause fear and also unit is unbreakable while they outnumber the enemy

No word yet if Stormvermin have any change in points with all those nifty rules?

I'd like to know the most elite rats the Skaven can muster are still dirt cheap, it'd be nice to see them fielded (since I've got a few sitting there waiting to be used...)

Right now, these are just rumors...several guys and I just put in our recommendations about 6 weeks ago...some of them were taken...much of the new stuff is brand new to me. I'm sure our group wasn't the only one putting in input, though.

Poor Orcs man, they are so underpowered right now compared to most armies out there Sad

im about just givenup on them and i will put them to rest for a long time till we get a new book to compete with all the crazines out there.

Im gonan concentrate on the Skaven, i like them and looks like the new book is gonna make them more powerful and i have pretty much evrything for their army, just need to get me some Jezzails.

Orcs and Goblins can still win games, and they're a pain in the ass to play against (IMHO). But I'd never call them nasty, not after the HE, DE, VC and DoC came out.

Oh and Luis, the problem stems from O&G always being one of the first to get their book updated, which is nice, but it usually means that they miss out on the power creep throughout the current edition. It'll probably happen again during 8th Ed.

I think my problem is that im taking Orcs in my army ... i have fallen of the path of Goblinhood and the Gods have punished me for doing so, endles NG Hordes with a multitude of fanatics is what the Gods sent in a vision tot he mighty Goblin warboss Sneaky RaftSmasha, by deviating from the path and allowing cowardly Orcs into his army he has suffered defeat after defeat.. NO MORE !

He shall summon the black pajama clad horde and watch his oponent howl in frustation as he moves 350+ models one at a time !!!! waaaaaaagh !!

ps. El Gigante and El Chupacabra also complained that goblins go down smoother than orcs, damn orcs kick and bite all the way down to the stomach...who the hell wants to argue with a 20 foot tall behemoth with a giant sombrero and his buddy ??

O&G has never been a very powerful force, it's generally always low on the meta totem pole. The updated army book also was very minimal update really and didn't really give any crazy buffs that everyone else has been getting with their army books and special rules.

One of the more balanced armies in the game.

Im gonna have 120+ Night Goblins and as of now 30 Regular Goblins. I want Orcs as well and some Black Orcs. I have 25 painted Orc boys with spears and 19 w/ hand weapons..

Let's not forget that even though the O&G didn't see the wholesale buffs that the HE, VC's , Demons, and DE got, you can still certainly cheeze out an O&G army.

I still think having 15 Fanatics and 2 Giants along with a bunch of artillery can be downright intimidating. You can't charge them, because the fanatics will make mince meat of you, but you can't just sit back either because they'll pound you with Magic, rocklobbers, bolt throwers and doom divers.

Unless you have a massive gun line yourself , you're fucked.

yeah, about that...

No, I think O&G is still very, very nasty. These newer armies look nastier because they are new and have gotten a serious reworking. O&G has been nasty from the beginning.

Update from BoLS and from contacts at GW...

The earliest to expect the new Skaven book will be in the fall (some reports say September, some say October). Either way, it won't be until the fall...

And, the BoC (Beasts of Chaos) book will most likely not come out in 2009 at all, but that rumor is unconfirmed.
