league play
hey guys,
I was thinking. I know it's dangerous when I think. Anyways, there's only 3 weeks left of league. I dont think I wanna shell out $10 to continue playing in THIS league. I just dont want to pay for something I have no chance winning. I'll probably show up to watch or get some casual plays in. I will still play at all tourneys (if I have money). If any of you wanna just get some games in, just call me.
Now the next league play, I am ALL over!!!! Watch out guys I'll be practicing!!!

Re: league play
You are wrong. You have plenty of time to catch up. You get bonus points for playing people higher on the ladder than you are, if you win. You're not paying $10 bucks to win a prize. You're paying $2 a week to play with your friends in a more casual environment than tournament play. It's not that much money. In just a few games (like 3) you can be in the top spot. Ask Cesar M. Plus, it helps you to practice and prepare for the tourneys.
Head hunt the people at the top of the ladder. All it will take is a little effort and some wins on your part.
Come out and play!

Re: league play
Guy,
seriously, you can catch up. i came from 2nd to last (11th at the time i think) to 6th place last week by playing and beaating Little Cesar (pizza pizza).
If you play above your rank and you play some bigger games (750 pts) you can easily pull ahead.

Re: league play
2 dollars a week to play aye? Why pay 2 dollars when you can just play for free at home with your friends and keep it casual there?
Hell you could even meet at a park picnic table and play on that!
(P.S. Don't gimme shit about those models falling over cause the wind those things are heavy as rocks!)

Re: league play
Because league play is organized play that is usually run at a store. Its also part of the ongoing storyline. The store provides a place to play and orders the league kit which has a cost. Everyone gets a tour pin with the potential to win one of several medals as awards at the end of each tour of duty. We are basically paying for the kit and a little bit goes to the store to cover costs.
If you want to play casual at a friends house (everybody comes to my house to play) or at a park that fine but its not organized play supported by Privateer Press.
If you cant handle $10 bucks for five weeks of play, Warmachine/Hordes organized play might not be for you. We have a really good group of players and we are having alot of fun.

I for one don't see a problem with paying $2 a week to play about six hours of WM/H on Joel's tables and with his terrain. At least we have a place to all get together at least once a week. League play is a lot of fun and well worth the $10 fee and, if you can play more than once a week, you have a good chance on making up for lost games.

Re: league play
10 dollars for a pin...ROFL. To each their own i guess, i have an entire menoth army (its for sale by the way) got into the game, its a great game especially sence theirs no real bitching and complaining "Play like you got a pair" was something that got me hooked since I've been playing table tops for about 4 years the game came pretty natural.
Outta curiosuty do you get league points which you can then turn in for store credit...Joel used to do it for 40k leauge night, 15 points a win, 10 for draw and 5 for losing when you reached 300 pts (might have been less) you got 30 bucks in store credit.

Re: league play
Clearly we are not understanding each other. You are not paying $10 dollars for a pin. Everyone gets a participation pin for each tour. You also have a shot to win one of several medals at the end of each tour. You're paying a fee to cover the cost of the kit and part to the store for hosting.
Im not sure if Joel will offer a store credit prize to the participants at the end. There is no store credit based on how many points you have. Privateer Press Organized play is not about getting store credit. This is not that kind of game. Its about having fun and socializing with other players that share an interest in WM/Hordes.
If you are selling you army, that means youre not really interested in playing anymore. If you change your mind and have resolved your issues at the store, you can come out and join us if you'd like (if you don't mind the $10 dollar entry fee).

Re: league play
Warhammer never started the store credit deal. It was just Joel doing it to do it as a benefit for having the organized play also this way the two dollars you end up earning back by being a great general or in this instance a great warcaster/warlock.
As for joining the league maybe next time, what days do you all play? If it dosen't clash with my raid nights and then depending on my situation with Joel i might start coming by.

Re: league play
You can play a league game any day that there is space available but we all usually go on Thursdays from about 3-4pm till close. I usually dont get there until 5-6pm. Tournaments are usually first Saturday of the month at Sunshine. I do run events up in Ft Lauderdale as well. Theres a tournament on the 22nd of this month.

Re: league play
Very important note:
League night is for .... well league play.
If we have the space (we usually dont) you can play a non-league pick up game on one of the tables not being used. Otherwise, don't plan on being able to play pickup games on Thursdays after about 4pm.
We have been getting about 8+ people every Thursday for league.
If you join the league, then you are golden.
Everyone is always welcome to come watch and hang out.

I don't care about 2 bucks, so I will pay it to play. If you want me to join the league that's cool but I won't be coming every week. I play Crxy.

Re: league play
You can play games anyday. You just have to coordinate with an opponent. Thursdays is the designated league night at Sunshine when most people go and we have to whole place to ourselves.
Hopefully, you'll come out and give it a try.
