Yea I think hitting the pirates' camps on the coast would be the best thing to do.You'd have to hit 'em hard and fast to leave 'em completely terrified and ineffective.

I remember reading a few months back that in many coastal cities in africa, these pirates are seen as heroes. The ransom money they bring back heavily stimulates the local economies, and helps bring wealth to the villages. If we do go into these areas to wipe out the pirates, we may have a tough challenge, considering that the hearts and minds of the people lie with these pirates.

Imo, the best way to take out these parts is to make them think its not worth it to target Merchant ships. Disguise a couple Freighters as your random local merchant ships, but in reality, they are crewed by Marines. When the pirates get to close, open up, but make sure to leave some alive to tell the tale. Russia did this a while ago, and it worked.

You can't attack the coasts because you'll be killing women and children. We look bad enough as it is, but when you drop a daisy cutter on top of a bunch of women and children, the world tends to have a negative opinion of you.

It amazes me how all of you say " hey carpet bomb the coast, teach these animals a lesson !" but meanwhile when Israelis drop a few bombs on a school the Palestinians were using as a bomb making factory, all of sudden the Israelis are a bunch of big bullies.
