Stephan is a true veteran married man. All you married guys,share your wisdom with our younger members so they dont make our mistakes. My best advice is, don't get married.

I am not anti-marriage, but very pro-marriage. And for this reason my suggestion is to take a really good hard look at the situation you are entering into before making a final decision that will change you for the rest of your life. You are not getting a magazine subscription that you can cancel if it doesn't work out (although that's exactly what that outcome is). A lot of people do not take marriage seriously. That is not just my opinion but a fact. The US has the highest divorce rate in the world. I have been researching this for most of my life and I am pretty familiar with this subject.

Until the male/female relationship and our Judaical system (family court is totally different from the "normal court") improves , marriage in its current state could be a really disastrous union.

I am working on a unofficial thesis on this subject, here are some items, just brief observations:

1# Women are consistently inconsistent.

2# Women want their men to change (everything, clothes, habits, careers, friends, ect), but men do not want their women to change (get fat, get out of shape). In general, women seek change, men do not (in a relationship).

3# Women feel that they are never wrong (again in the content of a relationship).

4# A women's boredom, means the relationship's death.

5# Most, but not all, women want to make the major decisions in a relationship.

6# Women do not know what they really want. They can't explain their behavior or decisions.

7# Women say they don't like assholes, but that's who they marry. Just ask Sandra Bullock or Denise Richards.

God isn't this the truth. When I was originally told this, I was like "Psh, naw, I got my girlfriend by being the nice guy" 2 years later, shit doesn't work out, I decide the jerk approach. I was in another relationship almost instantly. Girls LOVE assholes, and I don't know why.

Normally I'd make a call to action for the women in the forum to answer the question. Then I realized we all play with plastic army men, and women are by far uninterested in our meddlings and therefore would not even see this post.

Women want to be lied to and treated poorly. The nice guy thing never works. It didnt work for me. My problem now is Im married and have two children. If I dont relent(like we all do) I will loose my children, pension,house and have to pay child support. This all of course applies to decent looking or better women. Ugly chicks can be taken advantage of easily. Play off of their insecurities. Which they will have many of. They've been humbled already. Dont feel bad for them though ,if they were decent looking or attain decent status you will be given no quarter...so show none.

As for courts. They are completely biased and anti-man. Short of your wife being a psychopath,convicted sex offender or dead you will lose in divorce court.YOU will not get custody of your kids(shared at best) and if you have assets or a pension YOU will lose or have to share a large portion of it with your EX. They will find a new man and he will help raise your kids and bang your ex-wife in your house in your bed while you have to go live in an apartment or efficiency. Once you find a new woman they(your wife) will feel obligated to torture you in every way she can because youve moved on. They can,but you had better not. Ive been a Cop for 10 years and have dealt with all of this many,many,many times and its all the same. Not all of these guys were bad,many were decent husbands...some were cheated on and in the right and still lost all of the above. Hurricane can attest to this, he's been a PIG longer than me.

So Rok, I see you agree with most of my observations. Everything you said about the court system is true. I have several real life examples. In the past whenever a friend got divorce I would ask him about it as part of my research.

Leviticus, do whatever you have to do, but don't be a chump. You can be a stand-up guy, just don't fall into any traps or become a pussy whip, spine-less, hen-peck wuss. Of course it's easier to be an asshole, and that is why there are so many, especially when women reward them.

Nurgle once you marry it's over. She will completely change (see the change statement above). She is laying bread crumbs to the bear trap. You are fighting a losing battle. And what is frighting is that you do not realize it. When it comes to manipulation men are unarmed weaklings (most men) against women.

6 years married so far, helps that my wife has so many similar interests as me. Shes not really a gamer though she appreciates it and will do a rpg with us sometimes, but she understands me very well.

And heck, we work together, so we probably spend more time together than many other couples, we usually never feel like one of us is not getting enough attention since we are always together anyways. Never had issues with going out separate or having friends over to hang out.

I feel blessed since I know if I married other girls I dated seriously in the past, I would have had to change my life style to please them. With my wife I really didn't change anything, we both do and respect what each other like, and share so many interests. Though really I don't think I would really work out as well with another "manipulative" woman, I had enough of that kind of female when I was dating and would set my foot down eventually.

I've only been married for 2 years and my wife hasn't flipped the script on me yet.. but admittedly she was crazy before I married her..lol.. We have both always been pretty honest with each other(As far as I know) about everything. Even the real bad stuff your not supposed to admit. When I decided to get married I figured if we can deal with each others crap now it couldn't be to much worse if we where married... and so far I've enjoyed it and I don't regret it... but once a month I do want to drive off a cliff...hehe.

Again, I want to stress that I am not against marriage. It's just that I believe most people enter into marriage using the wrong criterion.

And women know they can't lose, even if the failure of the marriage is totally cause by them, they will get a major portion of your assets. Pretty sweet deal.

My brother is perfect example. His ex-wife contribute nothing to house, 401K, investment, ect. After the divorce she got 100% ownership of the house, in exchange my brother was able to keep his 401K and investments (oh, and his car). They were fucking his to begin with! What did he get from her? 100% nothing! So fuck that everybody gets half bullshit. And that was with a prenuptial.

Do you guys have kids? Frantic your still in the honeymoon stage. Kyle your just lucky. My wife has no intrest in gaming. She has played talisman,dungeon, twighlight imperium and LotR's risk. She played well and is cutthroat. Once the kids came that was it. I used to go to Sunshine every Wednesday like clockwork...for years. Then my rugrats came. I'm still waiting for Stephan to chime in.

Boy, if your wives read this forum like my wife does..... you'd be heading to court, LOL. I've been married for 12 years and have 3 boys under the age of 11. And my oldest is autistic. And the others are hyper like I was. But, Let's see what I did this week. Friday night I went to bed early because I worked a double shift. Saturday, I hung out with the family and painted my little men. Saturday night, I had some friends over and played the board game "Blackbeard". Sunday, I played in a flag football tournament ( i can hardly walk) Monday, I went fishing till 5pm. Monday night was poker night at my house. And today, I spent time with the wife catching up on our TV shows. Then I took a 5 hour nap.

I'm not saying that at all. I'm sure you're just having a bad day. We all have them. Marriage is about compromise. It's a two way street. Give and take. And I'm also not saying that being married and having kids is all roses. And this weekend for me was not normal. I got away with a lot. And got called on it too. LOL. I'm going to be shut down for a bit ( Sorry Dan). But damn, Jerry and you make marriage seem miserable. Besides, most of the time you complain about no one taking the opposite side of the debate. We got no kids, and really have no plans on it. She really does not like babies (odd thing for a woman) and I really could care less. Though when we get older we have thought of perhaps adopting instead. Right now we still think we are young and don't want to have kids, and rather just have fun together.

I truly happy for anyone with a successful relationship. My only point that I want to stress is give this decision (marriage) time and effort it deserves. As I said before most of the guy's I spoke about how the decided on their wives was "we got along for the most part and she gave me sex". I am not claiming anyone here did that, I talking about past conversation with people I know and were totally honest with me.

Many times I had a friend who suddenly got a divorce. "What happen, I thought everything was great"? "It didn't work out". Turns out the truth of the matter is everything was not going well. Either they convince them self the relationship was working or they were negligent or a combination.

I am not wishing anyone ill, as matter fact, I don't want to challenge anyone success. My major point is for those who are not married to give it the up most consideration before they do it. And that you DO NOT HAVE TO GET MARRIED!

When people say they are uncertain about their purpose on this world, to me that is easy.

The meaning of life is:

2# Fulfill your happiness

3# Have a long term equal relationship with the right person.

4# Attempt to leave the world a better place then you found it.

5# when and where possible help people with no expectations of payment or glory.

Yes, it's a tall order and that's why I believe God gave you a life time to achieve it.
