Two 500 pt Gondor Lists

Alright, so I got a copy of the point values for the Gondor ranger guys and I've written up two lists to compare against. Here they are:

List 1:

Grey Company w/ 3 Companies (Legendary Formation)

Rangers of Gondor w/ Captain, 3 Companies (Common Formation)

Rangers of Gondor w/ Captain, 3 Companies (Common Formation)

Total: 475

List 2:

Grey Company w/ 2 Companies (Legendary Formation)

Rangers of Gondor w/ Captain, 2 Companies (Common Formation)

Rangers of Gondor w/ Captain, 2 Companies (Common Formation)

Ent

Total: 500


I like both lists, though the second one has more hitting power in the Ent, but lacks the numbers in the companies. Of course, I could always drop one of the Ranger formations to boost up the other two, but then I've only got 2 units aside from the Ent to work with.

What do you guys think?

Rangers, are the Swiss army knife of Gondor. Their major weakness is the low defense value, you need some muscle. I would have some regular infantry (defense 7) to push back or the hold the line and let those Rangers do their stuff which is, punching holes into whatever they aim at (except them damn Easterling Calvary). Try not to get to rap up into Monstrous elements, especially in a tournament settling were hold table corners or other scenarios requiring more than just power.

Jerry is correct. Rangers however do have a higher than normal fight skill which helps. But for a 500pt army you may not have tons of muscle there but you should be able to hold your own.

Yeah, I'll just have to play test it to see what happens. The tournament in May should be a good way to find out if an all ranger list will actually work or not.

Scurrdi, you have to wait for May tournament to test your army?
You can't play sooner.

Well, I won't be in Miami until May 17th or so.

I'm gonna play my first LOTR game thursday with some guys from Nashville but I've only got 1 box of rangers to start with.
