Wizkidz is closed

It was announced this past Monday (the 10th) that Wizkidz would be shutting down productions of all it's game (including heroclix) and would only be doing basically what Topps does. ( Sell sports cards) I used to play heroclix and it was hella fun, if not stupid expensive. Just another "victim" of this economy....

yea bummer, they announced it a couple months ago...hopefully someone like WOTC may pick up the licenses and maybe the patents for the games...

Hey, wasn't GM (another two letter company) the #1 car in the world? Didn't they also piss on there customers? Ignore marketing trends and a list of other bad business decisions?

Damn I have to find the bar graph the shows GW in the shitter since 1999, it pickup a little in 2001 with the release of LotR (did you believe that) and then they tank again in 2004 0r 05 and stay there until this year.

Except things have been going on up for them. There recent statement showed another growth in profits and improvements http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/15510.html as has the previous one before that.

They dived couple years ago and as many said, they would die off if they continued on the road they were on, but they are turning things around. They will likely not get back to their prime though, but they should have no problem surviving. They took a tumble in the face of growing competition, but they are not gonna die off, they will change as needed to keep going.

Well for those who haven't heard, Wizkids assets are now licensed by NECA which should be continuing Heroclix as soon as they can. Apparently they also got all the other Wizkids properties except for Mechwarrior which TOPPS is keeping and licensing to Catalyst.

Sounds like we might see relaunches of Pirates and Mageknight possibly.

relaunch of Pirates would be great! Thats a fun little game. Especially if you make custom scenarios.
