Because american media is based on sensationalist news reporting.

We all know as far as kill count goes we have the upper hand but no one wants to hear that. Also it sells less news papers/ ratings increase.

same thing with H1N1 its only slightly more virulent then the regular flu with the same symptoms and end state but people are up arms about it.

Actually, H1N1 is slightly different then normal Flu because several cases have lead to death of people due to pheonomia (sp). This is what has gotten the medical field concerned, and the media jumped all over it.

I know this cause I had to sit through several medical presentations about the virus, because my field is "high risk" (band kids spend a lot of time together).
