Carrying Capacity of a Land Raider Empty Carrying Capacity of a Land Raider

In the black templars codex, the land raider entry states:

"Crusaders can carry up to 15 space marines in power armour or 8 terminators"

in my 'ard boyz list I'm trying to fit in 7 guys in termy armor and 2 guys in artificer's armor. Am I doing something illegal?

keep in mind that nowhere in my codex is it said "Models in Terminator Armor count as two models" so unless its in the BRB this APPEARS legal to me. The question is popping up because I wonder what happens when a unit of mixed armor (terminator/power armor) arises.

Sounds like there can't be a unit of mixed armor

well thats like saying I cant attach my independent characters with artificer's armor with my terminator squad. Which would be incredibly wrong, not in the "wow this sucks" way but in the "2+2 does not eual 5" way.

It's the old bad templating, or lack thereof. Sounds good to me. This is one of many examples of how people proactively use RAW mostly when it will benefit them at the expense of their opponent. You could have some douche at a tournament try to claim your IC's can't fit inside when every other Crusader in the game would allow them to.

RAW is strictly rules as written. Its is by definition impartial. If someone is bending the rules for their own use it would then become RAI.

Don't blame the players following the rules, blame GW.

still can't get any conclusive results. Is there any way I can get into contact with GW about rules? I'm rather frustrated at this point, the people at heresy can't offer more than redundant opinions that don't say much other than chris' original post.

Carrying Capacity of a Land Raider Empty sounds like bad math to me

Post by bromah Tue Feb 16, 2010 11:54 pm

sounds like bad math to me. just go with the 1=1 standard/artificer and 2= 1 termie. so fit 7 termies and 1 guy in artificer or 6 termies and 3 guys in artificer.
sounds like the author rounded .5up and it got through editing. go with the spirit of the rule. using the 15 units of space divided properly. it's a purported rule.....

My 2 cents: Chris is right. If the codex specifically states what can or can't be inside a transport, that's the way it's played. Same as BT transports only being allowed to carry the units they were payed for. 5th rules say otherwise, but FAQ>Codex>Rulebook. That's how the overrides work. So.... no mixed armor inside a crusader for BT. Evil or Very Mad

It's not following the rules to say hey your Crusader is different then all others when it is obvious the way it should work. It is trying to get one over on someone, assuming the BT player's opponent asks them to take their ICs out of the Crusader.

It's like for no reason people read into things and then call it RAW.

I like good RAW, I don't like pointless screw someone over for no reason when you could actually use common sense RAW.

I'm totally for it, why would I be against it?

I just thought of something interesting I remember from CCGs. When a rules ambiguity comes up it would be nice to know what the designers intended. Well you do know what the designers intended when they wrote their poorly written rules. All you have to do is look at modern Thunderhammers, Land Raiders, etc.

Well at any rate none of this RAW for RAWs sake effects me anways so I still look forward to playing at Sunshine.

But..... it's not ambiguous. It's in black and white print: "Crusaders can carry up to 15 space marines in power armour or 8 terminators". It's one OR the other. It's fairly clear. If it's a shitty codex, it's a shitty codex; but, it's clear on it's rules. bounce
