Re: 8th Edition Rumors
Of everything this is what I dislike the most:
"You may measure distances whenever you want."

Re: 8th Edition Rumors
The only good about premeasuring now is that with all the random distance shit they put in, you will need to premeasure to make some semblance of tactics, otherwise the whole thing is just one big guessing game.

Re: 8th Edition Rumors
The more I read, the more it sounds like LotR. It appears they lifted the entire rule set and plug it into Fantasy.

Re: 8th Edition Rumors
Hey Jerry, as someone who actually plays WOTR, what are your thoughts then, is this a good move? How do you feel about the game system in WOTR and how do you compare it to old (current 7th ed fantasy)? Any particular gripes or flaws in the system?

Re: 8th Edition Rumors
WoTR is a fun game, but it is much easier than fantasy.

Re: 8th Edition Rumors
@stepping up
The current rumor is that casualties are removed strictly from the back rank. As long as you have enough models to replace the front 2 ranks your attacks are unaffected by casualties.
so yeah- init doesn't matter much

Re: 8th Edition Rumors
Initiative can still matter in the case of Cavalry, Flyers, and Moster's Vs. Rank and file. It can also matter for rank and file that normally boast 2 attacks. Although most rank and file with 2 attacks are elite and usually therefore have pretty decent initiative.
Imagine a 6 man unit of Empire Knights are charging a unit of Dark Elf Black Guard (that don't have the ASF banner) The Knights lose the advantage of getting the charge off, and if some of them get killed, they don't have the benefit of getting attacks from a second rank.

Re: 8th Edition Rumors
You also will need a rank to hold flank, so Cav take another use hit.

Updated list with a bunch of stuff that has been confirmed from some who have seen leaked book, some stuff has been discredited, and some previous rumors cleared up. Still some ambiguous stuff till next week.
