EVE online???

Does anyone here Play this game? Just trying to find someone local, and hopefully get some advice on a few things.

That's a pretty old title with a small but dedicated playerbase.

Most sci-fi mmo gamers are currently playing the new star trek game right now. That might be a better title to try if your looking for something new.

Eve is supposed to be hardcore game, unless you can team up with others who know what they are doing and can protect you, you will get raped.

I wouldn't recommend it unless you had RL friends that are in to it.

Kyle is right, I heard about guy who went to an EVE game and bunch of guys in batman costumes drag him into the house, handcuffed him and gang rape him. And now he has some rare form of EVE VD that has no cure.

In addition, he lost that nights game.

For the PVP aspect, yea, completly agree, it's hard (and stupid) to go it alone...

Oh well, I already have a 6Mil skill point character, just that my corp transformed into afk-oblivion...and I'm stuck in the dangerous PVP zone...

On paper it sounds like a very interesting game.

But since I am not a fan of PvP, and this is a very VERY (very) PvP-oriented game, I have to pass.

EVE online is a cool game if you have the time for it. Yes the PvP is hardcore, you loose your freaking ship and if your pod gets destroyed, then you can lose days of skill points and whatever implants you have at the time, unless you have a recently bought clone.
But, you dont have to PvP, there are MANY corporations that just do trading,crafting,mining,selling. You can corner the market in certain areas and stuff. Lots of creds to be made if you are into crafting, you can make ships and sell them to people, weapons and bunch of other stuff. Just hire some security if you are traveling through space that has a low sec rating.

I recently made a run into lowsec with an industrial (thing: BIG,Slow, and Weak), made 2 million (fair bit) and made it back without issues.

and the who lost "skillpoint" thing rarely happens, because by the time your in PVP-readyness, your corp or you yourself can pay for a new clone.
