WTF? New missions please

I thought when battle missions and planet strike came out, everyone would be playing it. Alot of us bitch about the same old missions yet no one tries the new stuff. What gives? What do you guys think we can do to spice things up? Or maybe folks are scared.

I don't think any of us ever bought the Battle Missions book... I did play a Battle Mission with that one Necron guy (your name escapes me, I'm sorry) and it was rather fun.

I have the book...I have them all. Cities of Death and Planet strike as well. I have played cities of Death quite a few times(pre-lockdown) and it was fun. I think many people have their armies honed to win every game and throwing in new missions and rules hampers that. So they avoid it, yet still complain.

Joel should provide store copies for people to use. I know some are just short on spending cash or afraid to invest in the books because of the apparent lack of interest.

I guess tournaments centered around one of the books would be kool. Planet strike tournament so folks can attempt to tailor their lists. It would be very interesting when players realize troops are optional.

Also, just so folks know. Planet Strike allows 3x HQs, 6x Elites, attacker gets 6x fast attack and defender gets 6x Heavies. Troops are optional. Every model is scoring. If a unit can deepstrike; it can also assault from deepstrike. Every model can deepstrike, even if not in it's original description; it just can't assault afterwards.

I'm all for battle missions. I think it would make for very interesting games without moving around your army organization.

If perhaps tournaments would be run using the variant rules people would care, but it often seems like people want to stick to basic missions to further plan and refine for tournament play and competitiveness. Used to see this alot with more unique styles of missions with players who would decline playing anything other than a basic book mission.

Really if it bothers you, when you pair up with someone, bring out the battle missions or such book and ask to try it out and roll off to see who gets a mission.
