Dark Eldar Tactics
Hey guys. It seems a lot of us want in on the newness that is Dark Eldar. Anyone coming up with ideas or combos from what you have read? One gross thing I was thinking of is Webway Spam. The new WWP counts as a board edge with the exception that no vehicles may come through. Does that mean reavers can turbo out o their and mess stuff up? Also a great way for Talos delivery I imagine. Trick is, how do I get it across the board? Transports are made of paper, so what would the best delivery be?

Re: Dark Eldar Tactics
I need to look at the codex more thoroughly to come up with nastyness. I like the old school driveby/ hit and run combo's.
Utilize speed, BS and hard hitters, but that was in the old days

Re: Dark Eldar Tactics
Stuff costs too much, and the ig parking lot is a major pain in the ass. I'm experimenting with a list i'm currently glueing that involves 5 raiders with 6 wytch squads and haywires + blast pistols and 3 trueborn squads rocking 4 blasters 2 splinter cannons with lance ravager and voidraven bomber as my heavy and the cheapest archon i could take with haywires. I'm hoping that can make for a quick bloody game on both ends. Especially with shock prows ramming me some valk vendettas and chimeras.

Re: Dark Eldar Tactics
Jose, might I recommend a Harlequin escort for your WWP carrier? Veil of Tears means people can shoot you from a maximum of 2d6 x 2'' away (24'' maximum), which means you can basically fly up into their face on a Venom, and lol.
Also, WWPs are Impassable, which means.. oh, say, 6 Haemonculi, with WWP, could form a "barricade" of WWP which no vehicles can drive through, and have reserves (like Reavers) zoom out from any one they desire.

Re: Dark Eldar Tactics
well after the tournament saturday, i have a few things to say. Nick got second, and would have had first if his army was painted. Using Dark Eldar!
I have to say, being on the receiving end of that (btw he was my first game and only loss) that all they do is spray you with lances (30 of them) and rapid fire you to death. Veck lets you get the initiative and the game is yours. What i have to say about all this?
they are suicide machines. don't worry about dying, they don't care either. their goal is to kill, jaw breaker defense does not exist for them. They gleefully throw themselves at you after you drop their raiders knowing that they have more wounds and more heavy weaponry than you do.
Fighting them? considering that they field a dozen vehicles plus infantry, I would say quantity beats quality. ap is meaningless especially given how stupid cover is, it's all about strength and numbers vs these guys.

Re: Dark Eldar Tactics
Meh, not as tough as one would think. I am sure a lot of people are not used to playing them just yet.

It's not a big change to how Dark Eldar always played.

Re: Dark Eldar Tactics
My Dark Eldar were designed with IG Chimera Parking Lots in mind, so I designed my army around having enough lances to stun vehicles into submission, and whittle them down with successful penetrations (when they happen, which is about as often as a Krak Missile, seeing as how they're both S8..) I actually removed the "suicidal" feel of a lot of squads which seem hot on the internet, such as 4-man Trueborn squads with 4 Blasters, and instead beefed up each squad to 10, which basically was me trying to say, 'No, Mr. IG, simply blowing up my Raider and wounding 2-3 dudes doesn't mean I lose 2-3 lances. Keep shooting.'
My only close-combat presence in the army was Asdrubael Vect, who carved up nothing in Tom's game (well, he blew up some Marines with his Soul Orbs), 1 squad of Fire Dragons, a Farseer, and about 12 Dire Avengers in my game with Caesar, and a Tyrannofex and Tervigon in my game with Roy.
All I'll say is, Dark Eldar are actually fairly resilient, in cover. You often end up grounding their skimmers, but outright blowing them away is tougher than a lot of folks think, assuming you have enough varied threats on the board, and enough mid-field suppression fire in the form of Blasters. If you lose Turn 1, enemies get about 1 good turn of firing on you, usually damage 2-3 skimmers, and then your other 7 + passengers of the 2-3 roll forward and bitchslap them with 30 lances. Return fire on Turn 2 is MUCH less, and your own firepower is hardly diminished if you're like me, and you pack most of your firepower in squads, instead of Raiders. Turn 3 and 4 is pretty much you mowing people down with Splinters, and Vect lol'ing his way through entire squads by himself. Turn 5, zoom, zoom, zoom, contest.
I imagine it's a frustrating army to play against, but it's a lot of fun, too -- I haven't denied people cover saves on their vehicles with such frequency with any other army I've ever played. "Zoom, I'm over here now. I see you! Zap!" Great fun.
