Re: Dark Eldar
I had a Dark ELdar army for years, but fell in love with the new raiders. Just finished off selling the old crappy raiders and need to start getting on to the new ones.
Then again, I'm sloooow getting armies up so who knows when I can give you a taste of the Dark

Re: Dark Eldar
!! You didn't know? They completely redid the line! New codex and new models for just about everything, and what they haven't updated yet will be released soon. The new look is amazing and the vehicles have a whole new aesthetic - more like pirate sail ships in space than the star war skiffs of before.

Re: Dark Eldar
Much improvement, about time, it only took them nearly 11 years.
A lot is missing (warp beast, the main bitch, certain Heavy support units) so I guess those are the items that are going to release soon.
Are the Hellions worthless or did they improve them so they are playable now?
Is the army balanced?
Talos still looks stupid.

Re: Dark Eldar
Seems to be a very balanced book. Not for rookies though. They designed the army to be a " glass cannon". The best part is that there are many different builds that are possible and still be competitive.

Re: Dark Eldar
Well all the books since the vanilla marines' have been good with multiple builds possible. Why is it a bad book for "rookies?" Is there a good book to start with?

Re: Dark Eldar
Finding a competitive build with models you like can be difficult. Synergy in an army list truly comes about with experience. With soo many optitions, it can be confusing trying to build a list without spending too much money. Vanilla marines and orks have enough variety without overwhelming a new player with special rules. As hard hitting as the new DE codex is, defense is their weakness. An experienced player can take great advantage of that if the DE is new to 40k. I personally don't like decimating new players into the hobby. After last month's debate on comp, I have been trying to develop two army lists. One for power "cheese" gaming and one comp friendly list for fun.

Is it still the Necrons?
Dark Eldar has always been difficult to play, with only two other version this is the least modified army in the game. It was my first 40K army back in 1999.

Painted Lilith
Originally I wanted to try and copy the color scheme of the Emasculators Kabal, who I used when I dicked around with DE in Soulstorm. I couldn't get the exact shade of maroon I wanted from mixing paints, plus trying to mix paint when I have to go through a dozen Warriors or a Raider would be a pain in the ass, so I just said "screw it" and went with red. So yeah, base colors are black and red. REAL ORIGINAL I KNOW. The only thing I managed to keep from the original plan were the gold weapons. All the spiky and sharp bits are boltgun metal.
My first trio of Reavers are done, waiting to acquire more bits for my Wracks, deciding on whether to pick up a Raider or a box of Warriors this week.
