Second go at fantasy, help plse

I would want this to be a center piece of my army. This is a mountain Chimaera. I like monsters and cavalry. I would want to pull off khadon spell reliably to be able to use the chimaera. It is on 100mm x 100mm base. Same as new spider. I would think it is tourny legal as no model exsist for it. I would assume armies compatible with this would be Beastmen, Warriors of Chaos or Daemons. I would maybe think a savage Ork shamen could do it, though I need to see the new book. I despise humans, elves and dwarves. Not choosing skaven because there are too many rat players already. Help me out guys, thanks.

I was gonna mention that that thing looks like somethimg a Dark Elf army would have in it.
A Warriors of Chaos army wold prob fit one of those in also, you can use it as a Chaos Dragon or something. Is a pretty sweet looking model.

it should be on a dragons base size or the hyrda's base

DE and WoC lords both can ride a Manticore. I'd say that's a good proxy.

Also unless your taking that 100 point item that turns a lord into a wizard the chaos army does not have access to the lore of beasts. If you do start Warriors is it going to count as your Chaos Dragon????

The armies that can take Lore of Beast with out the 100 point item are the following

Empire
High Elves
Wood Elves
Beastmen
Brits
Vampire counts with using a Bloodline power
Daemons units a upgrade
Slaan can but i dont thing they can do the transformation

there is some really great manticore models and dont for get that 100mm by 100mm might be to big

For a manticore yes, but great fire dragon, new Ork spider are on 100mm x 100mm bases. A mountain chimare is probably the toughest creature in the whole game. Check it's statline, better than new spider and on same base size.

The model is actually half chimera and half manticore, so you could certainly use that as a WoC (or DE) centerpiece for your army.

Know what? That chimaera was sculpted by the FW sculpted who did the greater daemons. Too bad it isn't a FW model. Though I believe if no model is represented by GW or FW, this would be legal right?

How would pulling the spell off with IF as a remains in play spell work. How would someone dispel it?

Same way as normally dispelling remains in play.

So this spell could easily be dispelled and all effort into this one trick would be wasted?

Dispelled by the base casting value, yup. Otherwise it'd be too powerful, I think. Take a bare-bones wizard with a power-scroll and you'd have a mountain Chimera guaranteed.

indeed it would work for the mountain chimera but there is a GW manticore (which sucks ass. See if you can find the one that i use. I know for a fact you will find it one ebay. It was made for an undead character back in 4/5th ed.

and there was a chimaera model....again out of print. like dwarves with spears...lol

y would the slan not be able to transform?

Slann can transform, but I'm not sure you'd want to try that move.

which in turn gets hit with a feedback scroll, then you have to worry about the spell eater rune or better yet the seal . Say good by to that spell

You can't build a list around the transformation spell

First you need to cast it
Then you need to get into combat (next turn) to make use of it

Casting it -
It's a high level spell to get off.
It can be dispeled for free with a scroll.
It can be destoryed with certain items.
It can be dispeled with a dice roll.

Get to combat -
You need to wait at least one turn to move and enter combat.

You opponent will get 2 more dispel attempts (at the base level) during this intial wait to see your first combat.

If the dispel is timed right, the mage is be left a sitting. Alone in the open or even in combat.

If you want to run one of those models, I'd aim for a monsterous mounted lord leading some Dark Elves, Warriors of Chaos, etc.

Heard! Still drooling over Orc stuff though. I mean, look at those huge spiders! The way I choose an army and list Is by theme or scene in my head. For orcs, I picture a huge savage mob shaking the earth as they approach. Catastophic spells crashing into enemy lines further energizing the savages in the front into suicide frenzy. Followed by giants, trolls, and then spider mayhem of small and gigantic proportions. So if I did orcs, I couldn't have black or regular orcs in it. It would be all savage and national geographic like. Kinda like the junlge and forest coming to reclaim what is theirs. Or do the opposite and create the stronger standing and 'ardest orcs eva! Though I wouldn't have savages in it at all, as this would be the best disciplined Orc army. Yes I know orcs and discipline don't go together, it would be an attempt by the greatest warboss to bring it together. It was the same with my speed freak army. If it was an army that wanted to be the fastest and the hardest, then all bikes was the only answer. All that and still try to be competitive.
