Idea for a 40k tournament

So i was thinking of a tournament that had an interesting twist to it. Ok, so i was thinking of maybe we we should have a 2v2 tournament and each person brings 1k points so with who ever they partner up with, they make 2k. But heres the twist. for each new round everybody is switched up so you get random partners

My only issue with that would be "I'm playing necrons. I wonder who I'll be teamed up with. Oh, the Dark Angels player. Can we scoop now?" or variations thereof will happen constantly.

It's great a great idea. Get to work on someone running it and make it happen.
Also, don't bash crons. In the hands of a skilled player, they can still humble anyone.

People with different conceptions of different armies will always be uppity if they have to be sided with an army they don't like or they think doesn't work with theirs. I just used a random example.

Well, ok, they can humble anyone who forgets their vehicles at home. I'll give you that.

Not that I'm saying it's a bad idea. I'm down for some 2v2 tournament action.
