Dipping is a very easy process which gets you a nice look in much less time than hand painting the details. Minwax now comes in a bunch of colors too, so your not limited to just browns.
http://www.minwax.com/products/wood_stains/water_based_wood_stain.cfm?tn=4&td=Mon%20Aug%2018%2011:06:34%202008#Colors
Steps I'm using for my TK
1) Build, Base, and spray prime with white
2) Paint base coat (silver on weapons, gold jewelry, brown bags, etc)
3) Dip in Minwax and dry off the excess. In and out (1 second). I lay it on an old rag and then fold it over and gently dap dry. You don't want puddles, but you down want to whipe off too much and loose the details.
4) Sit in tin foil to dry (won't stick)
Good luck!

Re: dipping method
Well for FOW it' not that hard at all. Here's what you can do:
1. Pick your army uniform colors, then go to Home Depot and find the closest looking spray paint they've got to it and buy that.
2. Prime your guys with that.
3. Paint the weapons and faces/hands (belts are optional if you want) along with anything else that stand out (flags, etc.)
4. Dip!
5. Dry!
Done!

Re: dipping method
The green will be your base coat so if you go with the easy method the spray paint or hand painting it. The Dip is a wash and brown usually words best because you are dipping the uniform and the flesh. I dont think a green wash over the flesh color will look that good. But I could be wrong.

Re: dipping method
Just prime 'em white, basecoat the basic colors and dip 'em.Use a walnut stain.Minwax has very good woodstains and you can pick up a can of it pretty cheap at Home Depot. Here's the colors I'd use to bascoat 'em:
Face-elf flesh
Rifle wood,pouches-bestial brown
metal-boltgun metal
helmet-catachan green
uniform-kommando khaki
boots-chaos black
It's not hard Luis.Or if your too lazy to even do that just skip the whole dipping thing.Just prime 'em white and basecoat everything except the uniform. It'll make 'em look like they've got winter uniforms on.

Bill, you dip your minis? That would explain that amazing painting speed!

This feels like an intervention. Luis, man come on, you have to paint your little men. It's for your own good.

Re: dipping method
im gonna see if i remember to pass by home depot today and get me some spray paint, then when i get home i'll see if i can motivate myself and spray my stuff, then i will try to make the supreme effort of sitting down and painting hundreds of little faces and countles rifles .... i'll try to have SOMETHING painted before the week is over !

Sometimes, but not always. For an anti-painter like Luis - I figure dipping as a good and easy method for him to learn and use.
Since I can use my Chaos - I'm in no rush to build the TK for play. Ironically, the speed to getting all that TK stuff complete has been more related to painting first and then building second - followed by a bit of touch up.
It is much faster to paint the individual SSC parts and then glue them together than it would be to paint them built with all the little corners and crevices. That TK Chariot took a fraction of the time my Chaos Chariots took because I painted it before I completely build it out.
Another good example was painting the skeleton quivers before I glued them onto the bodies. Had I glued first, the very simple quiver process would have become many hours of detail brush work and touch-ups.
