Tourney 11/23/08

Ok, wanted to start a new thread on this cause the tourney is next week and we dont really got much organization going on, i got a couple of questions:

1- whos judging this thing ?
2- who do we submit our lists to ?
3- Any idea on prize support?
4- Is it definetly gonna be Late War ?
5- If the even dont happen because not enough of one side showing up, are we still go with a 1750 tourney ?
6- Need specific timeline for this, so far is start at 12:00 pm ? show up at..? breaks..?? rounds..??
7- Anyone been able to get a hold of the players that dont come to the forum to let them know that they can still come if they dont have enough to make tank companies cause we may just do a regular tourney ?

As far as I am aware Jerry is the one who said he would be running this event. Incase he doesn't get to this (or doesn't want to run it anymore), I will run the event, though I will probably try to play as best as I can.

Here's the info for right now, if Jerry wants to change it thats fine, but here's what I think should happen:

Flames of War Tournament, Nov. 23, 2008

Late-War 1750 pt

All approved Battlefront lists are allowed, including lists from either Fortress Europe or Festung Europa as well as the approved PDFs.

Time Frame:

11:30 am - 12:00 pm : Registration
12:00 pm to 2:30 pm : Round 1
2:30 pm to 3:00 pm : Break / Lunch / Armies on Parade
3:00 pm to 5:30 pm : Round 2
5:30 pm to 5:45 pm : Break
5:45 pm to 8: 15 pm : Round 3
8:15 pm to 8:30 : Awards, etc.

I'm hoping to make it so folks can get home in a reasonable hour if we don't run the megabattle.

Scoring: Scoring will be made up of 3 components; Generalship, Painting, and Unit History.

Generalship: Each round will use the BF scoring system, found in the back of the FOW rulebook. In addition, after each round players will rate their opponents for sportsmanship on a scale of 1-5. This will be further explained on the day of the tournament.

Painting: Painting will be judged once and by either a third party or by the TO. It will be on a scale of 1 to 5 and you may be able to recieve some credit if your entire army is not painted (to be determined).

Unit Histories: Unit Histories will be worth a total of 5 possible points. These need to simply be a 1-2 page report outlining your company/batallion. These should accurately reflect a unit fighting anytime that fits in the Late-War period (1944 basically). More points are given for more details, and photos and maps are usually included. Here is a sample unit history


Due to the fact that this tournament will take place if we do not have the tanksgiving, I will simply ask that everyone bring 2 copies of their 1750 list on that day and I will check them as the day goes. I trust that everyone will not be outlandish with what they do and will do my best to check everyone's list quickly.

Now then, as for the folks who aren't frequenting this forum. Will anyone be around Sunday to meet with them? I will call Joel today to tell him to let everyone know that even if they don't have a Tank company to come for the event as we will probably just have a regular tournament unless more axis show up.

How does those rules and stuff sound to you guys? The senerios will be determined that day.

Sounds good to me bud, i just wanted to get some type of guidelines, with no order people tend to drop cause they are afraid of wasting their time.

Nate might be joining us for the event and borrow some figs to play some FOW. I'd teach him the basics before-hand.

Luis, I'm guessing that you'll have some extra tanks lying around in your force? Could Nate borrow a couple of these just for the tournament? I think mainly like T-34s to sub as either Panzers or Shermans.

Now, if anyone knows if Don is coming that'd be great, as he can bring both his Germans and Russians.

Is anyone going to be there (Joel's) tomorrow? Maybe we can catch a couple of those guys to get some confirmations out of them!

Ahh, well your Panzer IVs still work and we can say that your Panzer IIIs are really IVs. You can make a Late-War British list for the tournament though right?

Gonna bring a whole new selection of stirring Soviet songs to acompany my troops as they march to victory.

It's no problem bud! Just come by and play! We may still do Tanksgiving if we get enough Germans, though I'd like to do a regular tournament.

But either way, just come by and play in the event! LW 1750!

Spoke to Joel yesterday when i went to get the Fortress Europe book, he said he had told Don about the tournament but was going to remind him again, he also mentioned 2 other guys, one that got into it not long ago and some new guy that came from up north that plays germans. So we MIGHT get 2 new people over. I hope we get a good showing. I'll be ready with either my Tank list or my regular 1750 list.

The new guy is Mathew, Germans of course.

I learned all of that shit from my Cuban friends. Before I though all you Spanish people were the same.You know, Cubans, Nicas, Puerto Ricans,Blacks...did I say that??? A Cuban Girlfriend I had showed me the "truth". I though the Nazi's were racist.
