Rokassan, its not the gaming so much, but building Joel's store from the ground up that burned me out. Like I said before, the guy will suck the life out of you if you let him.

Stephan (and to get the topic back on track),
For the Tanksgiving event (if we end up doing it) it is as many points as you bring in legal companies.
So for example, if you've got enough tanks to make 2 full companies, then bring it! I saw pics of a 65000 pt Tanksgiving battle somewhere up north. Were not gonna go that far (I'm still hoping for the tournament personally) but we'll see.

Also:
Can anyone bring any terrain to be used? I don't remember how much Joel has but I'd like to do the boards some justice so any terrain anyone has will be great! I'll make sure that any terrain you all bring stays on 1 table and 1 table only so that we know who's it is (and I'll keep stock of it all too!).
Thanks guys! This should be fun! I'm back in Miami too!

Re: Tourney 11/23/08
Thanks to the 10 folks who showed up for Tanksgiving. I imagine if we had timed rounds things would probably have went more smoothly but otherwise I had a good time. Me and Will duked it out against Matt and Dave for the bocage laden road, and I throughly hate Brumbars (and Matt's crazy good rolling for those armor saves!)
Pics and AAR will follow soon.

Re: Tourney 11/23/08
yeah.. It was fun, even though Luis and I got pasted by a bunch of Tigers and Panzers all day long.
Note to self - Duking it out with 5 Tigers with Russian tanks = a lot of smoking wreckage. J. C rolled his armour save for every single shot that I hit on him ! Not even a friggin bail out.
But in the end it didn't matter cause we got the win Woo hoo !

Re: Tourney 11/23/08
yep, 7 tigers and 12 or so PZIVs are more than a match for 63 soviet tanks. Carlos was hitting with like 85% of his shots !! It was great though being able to field all my tanks at once, had a lot of fun. Oh yeah, those damn Flak 88's are NASTY, 3 shots each, AT 13 !!!

Re: Tourney 11/23/08
This is true. Despite Amazing German rolling, their combination of air support and the allied overwhelming numbers put us ahead by alot.
Part of the German issue was that they didn't advance at all to try and contest any of the middle obj, at least not until later in the game.

well, they were outnumbered in armor like 4 to 1, so advancing foward to fast wouldve placed them at a big disavantage on getting shots from the sides from all over the place. The thing that surprises me is that they didnt bring ANY infantry, panzerfausts and stuff like that woulde been able to put a hurting in our tanks, and german infantry in prepared positions is almost imposible to take out.

Re: Tourney 11/23/08
Yeah, well thats what they should have done.
Each player brings a platoon of infantry and you string them out to cover as many of the baseline objs as possible.
They dig them in first turn (even smarter if they all took pioneers w/ supply trucks. AT 4!!) and then sit there while the tanks go out. This way they've got all of the 6 objs. on their table side covered, they can contest the middle ones, and if we break through we've gotta go through dug-in, GTG veteran infantry with Tank Assault 4!!!
Ahh!!!

10 people turn out! That's one of the highest (if not THE highest) participation for FOW so far.
Hope the trend continues.

Re: Tourney 11/23/08
It was great! I enjoyed watching Luis and Stephan argue against Carlos. I do agree that some infantry would have helped out.The one time I did advance with a platoon of Panzer III's I was overrun by T 70s and they were able to take a tank out and bail another.Advancing with the whole force would have been disastrous. We didn't have the numbers to race forward.Anyways,it was an awesome game with a crazy amount of tanks on the board.I hope we have another megabattle sometime.

Re: Tourney 11/23/08
I don't have German infantry, just tanks. If I knew about all the allowed support choices I would have brought the 88's and Stukas.
We were outnumbered something like 2200 points.
That's like 4 on 5 basketball or hockey game.
That said, I noticed Carlos holding his own against two Russian players.
Tom tried to take the center and got spanked.
Don's 155 artillery were a very unpleasant surprise.
Mat and I turned the bocage lined road into a replica of a Civil War road;
littered with tanks instead of bodies.
I wonder how it would go with the Germans on the other side?
The Americans would spend two turns getting across the bocage. On the other hand there was not a lot of concealment terrain across the board for ambushes to pop out from.

Re: Tourney 11/23/08
Well I took virtually NO shots at Carlos' stuff. So it was really Carlos duking it out with Luis and J.C trying to destroy me. With all my firepower, I managed to take out 2 Anti Tank Units, a couple of Stugs, and maybe a couple of Panzer IV's . That's it. All my other shots went against J.C's Tigers and didn't do shit all game.

Re: Tourney 11/23/08
You knocked out four AT guns and like three or four Panzer IV's.There were no StuGs.I knocked out a few T-34's,one or two SU-152s(I think that's what they were.) and a T70 or two.Not too good considering I had a bunch of Tigers and Panzers but my rolling to hit was pretty shitty most of the time while my armor saves were really good.

Re: Tourney 11/23/08
i wasted a lot of shots against those damn tigers, carlos had 5 on my sidend a bunch of panzers, i shouldve been taking out those panzers and those damn 88s ! in one shot he took out my 3 SU-85s before they got to fire !
The side with the bocage looked like Gettisburg ww2 style, the road was one big smoke cloud from all the wrecked tanks, i placed my heavy anti tank guns really bad, i shouldve plaed them in the front , at 3 shots each at at 11 they wouldve done a number on those panzers.
