War and Pieces CLOSED?

Honestly, I believe it's a South Florida thing. I know many stores which sell their product at retail and do just fine.

Granted, they hold many "Sales" where they drop the price down 20% or so, but on their day to day operation they're expanded.


This doesn't surprise me because WE ARE IN A RECESSION. Most companies are cutting back on Labor (employees). Gaming Stores don't really have any Labor to cut back on (most are run by the owner) and thus, they slowly work their way down.

It sucks, but I guess it's a fact of life.

SUCKORZ....Guess that Gift-Card i got last year for X-mas is worthless now...ROFL...

Tate's bought a bunch of terrain and stuff from the W&P stash.
I'd give up on any idea that W&P may reopen.

What magic game stores are these? Only one that sells retail price and still going strong is Tates.

No, I'm thinking like Kentucky, Atlanta, and other places around there.

But hey, who knows!

I think closure of most stores have been from many other factors beyond just pricing of product. War and Pieces itself was really a comic book shop to Joey foremost and it wasn't till moving to the new location couple months back did they really expand their gaming outlook.

So gaming did him in.

Shadow any idea what Tates bought from W&P? Any AT-43 stuff?

That's the store I was thinking about when I wrote about leaving little kids in charge. LoI was a great store when it opened up. It had awesome scenery, lot's of products and lot's of space. In the end it ended up looking like a rat hole that only supported the DBZ card game.

I also remember the kids being paid in merch, Endre. But they weren't really paid in merch. They had Lizard bucks. You got paid a certain amount of lizard bucks per day. The trick was you could only use Lizard bucks to pay for up to 30 to 50 percent of the merch bought. <~~~~ Scam ALERT! So he (Max) had these little kids working all day for 10 Lizard bucks AND they still had to shell over cash for stuff they bought. The store lost nothing and gained everything. And you wonder why the stealing got so bad that the store owner did away with the GW line.... fucking asshole.

I think tates is going to start to carry war machine but not sure what other stuff they might have picked up. Brad just got back from a convention and said they were going to probly add 2 more table top gaming things, and thet War Machine/Hordes was probly going to be one. I was try to convince him to start FOW but not sure I got any where with that.

I have also talk to Brad about FOW. I really do not think he and/or Tates are going to carry that product.

I know that he does not care if it is played there. At least that is what was said, but I will know more after this sunday when I go there to play test my warhammer for the ard boyz.

As long as the tables aren't needed for one of their supported games, they are usually fine with a person playing any game at Tates. Sunday's the only day that they usually have set aside for GW games and regular tournaments so table space will be possibly off limits then.
