INTRODUCING ULTRAMARINES – A WARHAMMER 40,000 MOVIE!
The moment fans have been waiting for is finally here... for the first time, the Warhammer 40,000 universe will be realised in a feature-length movie on DVD.
Ultramarines is a 70-minute sci-fi thriller that will use CGI and state-of-the-art animation production techniques. Games Workshop is delighted to be working with UK-based production company Codex Pictures, who have the momentous task of bringing the Warhammer 40,000 universe to the screen.

I will remain slightly skeptical until we see a little more info. Something like 8 or 9 yrs ago they had been working on a Blood Angels movie based on the graphic novel they had even shown some stills from production.

I liked Up. Advent Children is a boring ass movie though. I get about halfway through it before I turn it off to do something else .

Obviously, CGI films work for kids. I haven't seen Up, but it looks real funny and fun. I have it on my Netflix queue.
I'm talking about crap like Beowulf and the Clone Wars. Those I can do without.

Don't know how expensive it would be but if they can make it as good as the opening sequences of the Dawn of War video games I'll be happy. Of course a little crisper and sharper would be nice but the quality should not be below those opening sequences.

Re: 40k Movie, about damn time.
A live action Space Marine just looks... stupid. The warhammer universe just will look silly in the flesh, looks cool in artwork but the heroic nature of the art just does not translate to live action.
As been said, the best you can hope for is like the awesome CG movie sequences in the 40k games like Dawn of War and recently Force Commander.
CG can look good and it can look bad, I wouldn't dismiss the whole medium as its very dependent on the final product. Advent Children looked amazing though it suffered from your usually shitty Japanese rpg storyline nonsense.

Re: 40k Movie, about damn time.
If they did a full length, tolkienesque, 3 part saga, CGI rendition of the Horus Heresy Novels, using materials from the novels, for the big screen...
That would be cool. But no one would waste that much money on something that the greater population knows nothing about.
Straight to DVD is the only way to go for GW...
Let's just hope we don't end up with another Dragonlance. Any one bother to see how crappy that was.

Then let's hope it's awesome. Like most of his novels.
Speaking of that... I'm sure they could make a good Gaunts Ghost series of movies. Live action.

Re: 40k Movie, about damn time.
Aww man, I was soo hoping for that Dragonlance cartoon to be good. Mixing traditional animation with super Crappy cgi was just nonsense. I was even pleased with Keifer Sutherland doing Raistlin.
What a let down.

Re: 40k Movie, about damn time.
Sutherland must have been a huge Dragonlance fan because he had already made it BIG with 24 and then signed on to do this crappy straight to video cartoon. Maybe he owed someone.

Re: 40k Movie, about damn time.
I don't know what it is with him and animation. He did the english dub for the Armitage III anime movie back in the late 90s alongside such cinematic luminaries as Elizabeth Berkeley, star of Saved by the Bell and Showgirls.
And that was BEFORE 24. I don't know, maybe he's a cartoon geek? Or maybe it's one of those "something for my kids" kind of logic.
