No bad guys for me!
Plus, I probably should paint the armies I've got before I move on to another one.

Most needed fantasy codex of them all. Beastmen have been crap for so long and made even more useless with the Chaos book.

Re: Warhammer Armies Beastmen
I agree with Kyle. As much as I grind my teeth about Ogres, the Beasts got half their forces torn out and thrown to the garbage without even a WD get-you-by list!
Even the GW promotional machine is billing this as the first time they have a book of their own. Sadness.

Re: Warhammer Armies Beastmen
The rule about 5 wide is what screwed them. The stupidest decision that GW ever made in regards to it's errata. When Beast army owners wrote to GW asking if Beastmen could rank up 5 wide even if the enemy base was not wide enough, GW ruled that they couldn't.
That one decision made the beastmen army worthless. They have all the weaknesses of a skirmishing army like the woodies, but with none of the advantages.

Even before then they were pretty shitty army. They have been pretty meh for a long time and each rule change just made them even worse.

Re: Warhammer Armies Beastmen
I disagree.
If you play Beasts ala HoC, with some chaos Knights and deamon allys they are a pretty cool army.
They have a clean slate to build from, let's see how creative they get.

Re: Warhammer Armies Beastmen
Just playing straight Chaos was just more effective, they were just a neutered version of Chaos in their old form.

Re: Warhammer Armies Beastmen
I don't think anyone's ever questioned the fact that they are flavorful. The fact that they could take Chaos Marks was always cool. With background fluff, units like Centigors and Minotaurs and stuff, they would seem like a fun army to model, paint, and play.
If they're viable gamewise, which I'm sure GW will make them, I'll definitely consider getting into them.

Re: Warhammer Armies Beastmen
No longer Beasts of Chaos, now simply Beastmen.
Latest runors have MARKS as out, and new Beastman MUTATIONS as in.
Looks like they added some large new beasts to the list.

Re: Warhammer Armies Beastmen
Oh I'm sure they'll add some new big monsters. GW has gotta make their money somewhere and I imagine that the beastman codex will be the new "codex, monsters"
You just wait, they'll probably be some 150 pt Hydra, thats T6 just to give everyone some other monster to get angry at!

Re: Warhammer Armies Beastmen
Check out BOLS and GW, they have pages up with some rumors (on BOLS) & advance orders (in particular: Plastic Minotaurs, new Doombull, Razorgor - Monstrous Pig-mount thing, mutant boar).
Aside from the confirmed Razorgor, they're going to include Spawns, Giants, and a Cyclops (as far as Rumors go, the Giant & Spawn are obviously Plausible).

I don't think they're that bad; admittedly, I think the patches of fur on them are a bit much - just on the chest would've been fine.

Hmm? I don't see pouches everywhere, double swords, padded head gear, and star eyes!

They'd be better if they have that.
You forgot feet conveniently obscured by smoke, fallen debris, or just never being in the frame, though.

Re: Warhammer Armies Beastmen
Minotaurs look pretty bad ass, but I agree with Cesar, either they should have gone with less hair, or more hair. The little patches of fur, make them look a little gay. They do look like they've been taking some serious 'roids though, so hopefully, they'll be strength 5 to justify their buffness, like trolls and treekin. If they end up being strength 4 like Ogres, that would be lame.
What I do like about the new models is the continuity between Bestigor, Gor, and Ungor. They all look like the same species, but with the bigger and tougher ones having better armour and such. Which is the way it should be. Before, the ungors looked like little devils.
Let's hope they don't fuck up the rules now.

Re: Warhammer Armies Beastmen
I don't see how they can make the Beastmen any worse than they currently are, so anything they do should be an improvement at this point.

QFT, but with a big caveat: It's arguable that if they don't get some serious love from GW even a good bump up the power curve will still leave them as an 'improved bottom tier army.'
