Rule Council for Tourneys

I say this is a great thing, seeing as we really need a have a way of calming those who tend to go overboard with debates and end up wasting time (which is #1 as most of you know...)

I think we would also need to gather up and place at the very least a series of house rules concerning the FAP (frequently argued points) about rules, as that is the #1 timekiller (other than a busy McDonald's)

I say do it, and see what happens.

I don't see a problem. Hell, when a lot of us newer players (myself included) have a problem with the rules we go to the veteran players and ask for rule advice anyway.

We have run events and ideas like this in the past and usually they aren't any issue. When Rudy used to run some of the 40k events he would have a "rules triumvirate".

Basically, him and 2 other veteran gamers (who were generally agreed on to knowing the rules well) would be on call. Rudy (the TO) would be the first responder, but if it was something tricky, he would go to one of the other 2 members (who were playing in the event) and confirm or deny his ruling. If 1 of the triumvirate was playing in that situation, then he would simply ask the other one.


It worked fine for us when we did, and we rarely had any issues. Just throwing it out there for thought (I didn't read all of this, just noticed it).

Except when Rudy wasn't taking his meds for his Bipolar disorder.

Being that this is a local store with mostly a small local group of gamers......

I vote that tourney organizers can play in his own event.

They can not win prizes.

If they play - they should forfeit their tourney organizer store credit back into the prize pool. If they don't play, they should keep their credit,

Wowzers Bill! I think that'll actually go over worse than my initial suggestion of playing and not TOing (new word) , or TOing and not playing. Being the TO, Playing , and not winning squat..... While I agree, get ready for the fiery flames of Chaos......

1st-council? wtf are we forming the evil imperium alliance? one guy (i remember rudy thought me how to play yeah he was kinda bipolar but i like how he ran things and i got the know how from him to run tournies and i think everyone enjoyed it when he ran it he also helped organize things such as painting tips day on saturdays or smaller events i think someone needs to fill that kinda role again not a council)
2nd-there are a few veteran players out there not just six and i really dont care what i say anymore so ima say it you named power gamers for a council i dont like it it should be someone or the triumpherate of veteran player who just love the game

Don't sweat it. Those supposed vet players rarely play at all now. Doesn't matter what they think if they are not there to play. No one can and should undermine someone running a tourny. Though there is nothing wrong with asking anyone for help.

Fuck it, just roll a dice and let that resolve the outcome of any and all rule issues...or call GW for rules issues. Oh yeah that doesn't seem to work...ever.

Look I'll run things for a while. I play enough and know the books back and forth since 3rd Edition. I also can relate RAW to Fluff etc.

Rule council would have to be for a MAJOR fucked-up-ness in the book.
