One Lurtz to Rule them All !

The Legion of the Red Hand under the comand of Kommissar Lurtz continued their conquest of Middle Earth.

Two battles were fought, the first to feel the wrath and teeth of the Uruk-Hai was a force from Arnor.

Lurtz brought his Uruk warband and a Pikemen formation, a Troll captain joined the fight and a formation of Warg riders came for support.
The forces of Arnor had the Grey company, a formation of Knights of Dol Amroth, the Court of the Dead King and a Dwarf ballista.

Well, this battle was all about the Troll captain, he single handly killed the whole Court of the Dead king, i go the charge on them and called Heroic duel, i got 5 dice to roll on the Duel table..and rolled 3 sixes ! dead King, dead like 11 other guys, he took 2 wound counters back, but next round he wiped them all out. Lurts did what he does best and ate the Knights horses and all, that migthy blow thing is nasty. The Pikemen held off and eventually killed the Grey company. The Ballista was a pain in the ass, couldnt get to it and he shot my poor defensles Troll captain dead
Game was a victory for the revolutionary Legion of the Red hand !! waaaaaaaaghh !!!!!! the Uruks feasted well on human and horse flesh !

Second battle was vs a Gondorian force with a formation of Knights, formation of Soldiers of Gondor, formation of rangers, a formation of some nasty guys with bows and a Wizard with a bird Flabergast or something.

Once again the Troll Captain destroyed, i was able to catch the rangers on the flank, they were trying to do a flank move to trap me between 2 crazy bow units but they got stuck on the river and the Troll raped them a new one. Lurtz once again ate knights on their horses ( he seems to have developed a taste for horse flesh ) The Pikemen got stuck on the gondor soldiers, that damn wizard was a bit of a pain. Wizards are pretty strong, he had this nasty spell that does like d6+3 or 2d6+3 hits on a unit !!.
The pikemen fell to the Gondorian Soldiers and the wizard, but at the end the Gondor soldiers got charge by Lurtz and the Troll captain and they ate the whole formation up. The archers on the hill died to a combined charge on the next turn by Lurtz, the troll and the Warg riders.

The Legion of the Red Hand continues their march of conquest, soon an Iron Courtain shall fall over Middle Earth !!



ps. Lurtz is sooooo broken.

Lurtz is a very impressive Captain.
I believe this supports my opion of Trolls, there are great also.

That was a fun game Luis. A total bloodbath.

I was so happy when you put the troll in front of the ghosts. "He's walking right into my trap...." YEAH! RIGHT! Time to rethink that plan.

I think it was a close game up until the end of turn 4. When you spent the last 2 might points to modify rolls, winning that combat with my Grey Company, and canceling my pending Heroic Fight bonus you did me in.

Shadow, I have to ask. Why did you shoot one of your most powerful weapons at a Troll that was across the battle field, when you had Lurtz and pikemen in your face? You could easly have shoot the Troll as he moved later, he was not an immedaite threat as were the pikemen. Were so upset at the Ghost fight, that you want to exact revenge right away?

I roleld exedingly well in both games, the troll rolling three 6s on the Duel was amazing and i won evry single heroic roll.

I think the upgrade to the Troll captain is VERY worth it, those 2 might points he gets and the other changes makes him able to hold a flank all on his own.

Lurtz is very strong in a warband unit, so far everything that he has hit has died.

That wizard Ragarbastard or whatever his name is can be a game winner, his spells are pretty damn nasty, the one where he can heal people back up is insane. Put him on a unit of dwarves with the giant shields and he can hold anything forever.

The Troll had moved up. He was one turn away from closing on the Ballista with nothing left to stop him. His S8 was a major threat.

I also gambled that Lurtz was out of range and the Grey Company could handle the Pikemen, then deal with Lurtz next turn
I didn't account for the RED HOT dice rolls by Luis
Lurtz needed a 5+ to charge and Luis rolled the unstopable 6 and then the maximum 3 extra attacks
Now I had to deal with Lurtz's epic strike and duel combo. Halbarad dies (no surprise), but the company loses are minimal
The Grey Company carve up the Pikemen (I was right about 1 thing!) - I'm up by 9!
Luis rolls 21 dice, gets 8 hits. Uses the last 2 might on Lurtz to modify up to 10 and wins combat by 1
I loose my Heroic fight
Luis finshes up the GreyCo on the next turn
It was pretty close. Luis had only Lurtz and 14 Orcs left.

The Ballista may have survived 4 rounds all defended up in the tower, but I felt it better to concede and let the next game go.

Also, how many points of Might does Lurtz have? I was under the impression that the fancy "kill stuff in one hit combo" cost a might point. It sounds like he has something close to 5 might points!

Lurtz has 4 might points, and he's only 175 points

All of those who say RagdaddyAss is bent, have not suffer the wrath of Lurtz.

Every army has its star and for Isengard its Lurtz (and Saruman, and Sharku, and berserkers, and....)

Hey, Raggabastard is pretty nasty, Mike just forgot to use him once and then missed 2 of his focus rolls, that spell that can do 2d6+ something can totally rape a formation. Epic tranquility and the one where he heals are pretty nasty too. If i wouldnt have gotten my heroic charge in first things may have been different.

I'll see if i face the Dwarves next tuesday on a 1v1 and see how i do against them.

Im down for a game against lurtz. Id like to scream and yell about how OP he is too.

Ill be at joels saturday helping him sign up on Facebook and Twitter. Id be down for a game depending on the time.

If I recall correctly the dwarfs have not lost either.

The dwarfs have lost, the first time i fielded them. :O( Tom's wolves and crossbows ate Balin.

3 games and no losts so far. Should be a very interesting fight, them midgets are tough !
My boys are gonna have to file them teeth sharp so they can cut through that tough dorf flesh!

Yeah, no way i can field 2000 points. i can do 750-800, and thats pushing it at 800 ! so if you like we can have a battle at 800 points on tuesday arround 5:40 pm
