Early War lists/etc.
I figured I'd start a thread just to throw out lists folks are fiddling around with now that some of us have our hands on the book.
So, let me jump right into it:
Pułk Kawaleri - 1750
Regimental Headquarters - 45
Mounted Kawalerii Company - 3 Kawalerii Platoons - 440
Dismounted Kawalerii - 3 Kawalerii Platoons - 335
Kawalerii Anti-Tank Platoon - 4 37mm wz. 36 - 155
Armoured Car Platoon - 3 Wz. 34 Armoured Car - 80
Armoured Train - Locomotive, Assault Car (w/ Assault Platoon) and 2 Heavy Artillery Cars - 695
5 Platoons deploy, 6 on the board - The Assault Platoon riding in the Assault Car are a separate platoon. While I don't have smoke, the Train provides mobile AT for the cavalry or pins infantry while the cavalry close the gap. AT platoon and dismounted cavalry hold down an objective when I have to defend.
On a less 'oh look Polish Cavalry' note: Polish Tanks!
Kompania Czołgów - 1750
Company HQ - 7TP jw - 50
Czołgów Platoon - 5 7TP jw - 245
Czołgów Platoon - 5 7TP jw - 245
Czołgów Platoon - 5 7TP jw - 245
Armoured Car Platoon - 3 Wz. 34 Armoured Cars - 80
Kawalerii Zmotoryzowanej Company - 3 Kawalerii Platoons - 390
1 Ckm wz. 30 HMG +35
Piechoty Company - 1 Platoon - 185
Anti-Tank Rifle Team +20
Light Gun Battery - 235 - 4 75mm wz. 1897
Observer Rifle Team +15
Horse Drawn Wagons/Limbers +5
This list -feels- really solid. 7 Platoons is going to drive someone crazy (irregular number of platoons - logistical nightmare/etc.) but I bashed my head over taking other options (Horse Artillery, etc. etc.) and it was the only 'comfortable' way to make the list. The lone 14 stand Piechoty platoon can guard the 75mm guns or be Bypassed to allow those stands to quietly sneak up without being shot to ribbons. The 13 rifle teams and 3 AT-Rifle teams will - at Veteran status - probably be the folks stripping positions of their dug in infantry and allowing the tanks to slowly move about doing their modern/mobile combat role as best as they can.

Railway line is put down before fortifications/objectives (following a few rules considering how it interacts with terrain already on the board, it forms bridges over rivers, for example). From that point onwards, the train moves 16 inches along the train during its turn. The only thing that can impede the train is another train on the railroad.
It can fire at full RoF and fire Artillery in bombardments on the move due to the stable firing platform. MG's on the artillery cars can be fired seperate from the artillery guns without penalty - although Train MG's are RoF 2 each artillery car has about 6 individual MG's and a turret MG on it - the Assault Car has 4 MG's on it.

Re: Early War lists/etc.
Cheapest $$$ and slowest early war force.
British Tank Company - Confident Trained
HQ - 1 Matilda Senior = 235 points
3 A11 Matilda tank plt = 185
2 A12 Matilda Senior plt = 475
2 A12 Matilda Senior plt = 475
Artillery Battery (4 gun) = 225
Rifle/MG pltn (3 sqd) = 145
Total = 1740 points
add trucks to art for +5, upgrade observer with OP scout carrier +5
Only 5 platoons, but Matilda Seniors should be very tough to kill in early war.

That's a lot of armor 7 running around.
What rating is the artillery/infantry?

HQ - 1 A11 Matilda 0.5"MG (upgrade +15)
and 2ic light Mk VIB = 90 (+15) = 105
3 A12 Matilda Seniors pltn = 710

Spordic Air support = 25

Only 3 platoons, but some air cover.

Re: Early War lists/etc.
British tank box set looks to be 1220 points. This is with all the upgrades. This includes:
Regiment HQ
2 company HQ platoons
4 platoons
All are confident trained tank platoons. 22 tanks total. This allows 2 partial companies with HQ's equal to a platoon. Total platoons are 6.
Creating one full company (HQ + 4 platoons) would be around 900 points. So, maybe add this to a 2 platoon matilda company. Add a cheap battalion HQ (pg 230 rules) to keep them all in line.

Re: Early War lists/etc.
The box sets don't look like they are good values. Sadly there will be early war models coming in first quarter 2011. So were stuck with the crummy box deals and proxies for a bit.

Re: Early War lists/etc.
Here's a list Im looking to field.
Fusiliers (Infantry) Company
Company HQ 85 pts.
+Mortar section 81mm
+mortar squad 60mm
X2 Fusiliers Squads 240 pts
Fusiliers Machine-gun Plt 100 pts
Fusiliers Mortar Plt 95 pts
Battle Tank Plt(X3 Char B-1) 550 pts
Light tank Plt(X3 H-39 w/long gun) 205 pts
105mm art battery 160 pts
half battery 75mm(X2 guns) 155 pts
25mm AA/AT gun platoon 70 pts
20mm AA/AT gun plt 60 pts
Sporadic Air support 25 pts
1745 pts.
All of the AA batteries are good against aircraft and Tanks. With AT5 or AT6 for the 25mm these guns can chew up those Hun tanks. As far as air support the Brits and French can only use them for interdiction as they didnt use the air ground support doctrine. The Poles have no Air support. I can switch out the Char B's with a medium Tank platoon of 5 Somua medium tanks for 505 points. That would leave me with 50 points to add to my force. I think I may want another platoon of infantry though. Im light on ground pounders. With the 81mm mortars I can attach the mortar section that's with my HQ to the mortar platoon giving me 6 tubes. Thats reroll misses.

Re: Early War lists/etc.
So, I've decided to go with the German Czech Panzer Company
HQ- 2 x Pz 38t
Combat 4 x Pz 38t
Combat 5 x Pz II c (early)
Motorcycle Platoon 2 sqauds (MG teams)
4x 10.5 cm Artillery Platoon
3 squads of Light Pioneers
Recon Platoon 2x Rad 8's
Limited Air Support
All units are rated Confident Veteran
Im getting excited to play EW, it should be fun. I think it's cool that a beast of a tank is 6 front armor and 5 on the sides! LOL Who else is jumping in?

My early war army is ready to go. I'll be at sunshine on Thursday. I may be able to get there earlier than my usual time if someone wants to play earlier.

Maybe I'll play Polish Cav.
But, I dunno, gotta think about it. Maybe a cheaper, smaller Early War army might be the way to go...
