Bill,
Sorry for taking so long in getting back to you. In regards to what I told you about people paying money to play, please post that if they are happy with the way things are they can keep paying the way they have and get points or the new way would be everytime they pay I will mark the money on a card which they will keep and they can let the money accumulate and use it anytime within a 2 month period. So if someone comes in once a week, every week for a month and pays $2.00 a week that's $8.00 a month. At the end of 2 months he will have saved $16.00. He can then use this amount towards a purchase. He will still get his 20% discount. So if he wants something for $50.00. He gets a 20% discount which brings the amount to $40.00, then another $16.00 off for a total of $24.00. He gets all the money back. Please post this and we'll see what happens.
Thanks,
Joel

You just hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately when you play for money, things tend to get serious. Peoples darker sides come out and fun is killed. I've never had a problem playing anyone win or lose, but I'm sure I would've enjoyed playing more people who didn't have the upcoming credit in mind.jspyd3rx wrote:Sounds great! Four years, FOUR FUCKING years I have been suggestion that Joel make a non-adversarial pay to play. Something along the lines of a pool hall or bowling alley.
Otherwise it discourages new players and/or who may quit altogether.
Also it's a ponzi scheme and could be view as gambling and Joel could be shut down.
This type of payment everybody wins. This is the best version yet.

How is it a ponzi scheme when the fee is up front and you knowingly agree to it? How is it gambling when both parties benefit from it and its standerdized. Meaning the outcome will always be the same. 200 points equals 30 bucks. House always wins I suppose....

There is a another post with over 14 pages of discussion on this subject that I am not going to repeat, it is pointless at this stage as Joel has finally seen the light and has come up with a fair system FINALLY. I was venting my frustration that he could have done this years ago, it was no secret and many people made many suggestions of variations to cover Sunshine costs and be fair to all players.
I have not left gaming, I am just focusing on getting a job. I have gone back to school to get my certifications. So far I have my A+.
Next month will make a year that I have been unemployed. I would like to thank the Democrats (I mean Socialist) and Republicans (I mean Fascist) for giving the America people over 60 years of continuous dis-service, greed, theft and incompetence. I believe their combine efforts will eventually utterly destroy America, it will be difficult, but they both seem very dedicated to this country's destruction.
I will now get off my soapbox.

You joined the Tea Party?
Totally agree though. The political system has gotten us nowhere at this point. Hopefully we can realize this and start making moves to help dig ourselves out of this hole because quite obviously Uncle Sam doesn't seem to have what it takes these days.

I don't think it ever crossed my mind that I should win the games I was playing just to get the $30 store credit faster, nor to friends like Nate and Luis, whom I played the most at Sunshine.

Any time Joel would alter the systems all the power gamers would scream to change back.
With the old system you could spend $80 to get $30 (the short math, lose every game & play once a session). So, in effect you are paying the winning player who only spends $10 to get $30 store credit (tah-dah Ponzi scheme)!
Let's see what happens with the current system and see if anyone objects. Take names this time.
The "Tea Party" is just Fascist re-branding taken right out the Socialist play book, the commies relabel them self's "Progressives" if I recall correctly.
I get confused sometimes on the party naming because shit to me, looks like shit, no matter how you mix it.

As much as I like the big games, getting 3-5 games in on one day would be nice without a high stress tourny setting.

The new $10 for a month of play time is amazing! If you go to Joel's two times a week that's $4. Now times four weeks that's $16. Even if you only go once a week that's $8 your paying. the $10 a month is stress free and you can play AS MANY GAMES AS YOU WANT! Play your friends! Play them 6 times a day! earn your points and take advantage! Play them once! It's still cheaper than paying $8 a month and losing out on the extra discount!!!!
P.S. I'm a power gamer and I make my $10 into $30 EVERY FUCKING TIME! Go cry more about losing. QQ QQ QQ (I'm bad and need a system that will let me get my face get ravaged every time but I still have fun, hahaha! Every game has a learning curve, you either evolve or get left behind. It sounds like some have been left in the stone age.)
Enjoy the game we're all nerdy players at heart and don't like losing.
I love it when people talk shit about 40K gamers...
