2nd MAXXXCON 40K Tournament

It's that time of year again! You've heard the rumblings and now it's official! The Shakiraholic's (Maxxxcon) proudly presents the 2nd annual 40K Tournament!

WHEN : Saturday, January 8th

TIME : 1130am -
1100 - Sunshine opens, player check-in
1130-130 - Round One
130-230 - Lunch and paint scoring
230-430 - Round Two
445-645 - Round Three
645-715 - Awards and clean-up

COST : $10

RULES :
> 2000 points
> ONE Standard Force Organization Chart
> Army drawn from ONE legal 5th Edition Codex, or non-updated older edition Codex with relevant FAQ. Allies rules still apply.
> No other Chapter Approved or 5th Ed. web-articles, this is PURE Codex play
> WYISWYG (though pistols/grenades/knives/poisoned weapons are assumed in pouches/bags)
> PAINTED armies, at least 3 colors BEYOND base-coating and based/flocked/highlighting/etc (while no one will be turned away, this is a premier event, folks, so please bring your A-game...)
> you are required to bring 3 copies of your army list, dice, a measuring device, templates, your Codex and rulebook
> some form of movement tray/bag for display and/or carrying between rounds

This is a GT clone event and will include the following scores:
Painting (once)
Army Composition (once)
Sportsmanship (each round)

I will judge Painting and Army Composition portions of the scoring.

The sign-up sheet will be posted by the register at the store, please note you can confirm your spot with me or even on a separate thread here on the forum.

A total of 18 Slots will be open.

Can I play with square bases?

No 5th ed. codex allowed, woot woot!

WTF!?! No 5th edition codex. I don't even know anything 4th edition related other than crons. Too weird, I won't be in it. We also have a lot of new players, so not sure how you are going to handle that.

are you also using 4th edition rules?

He actually says "no 5th edition web articles." I believe the previous 4th edition codex line to be a mistake.

Seriously, before everyone jumps off the bridge- just wait for a response. I really just think its a copy+paste job from a previous tournament with some editing.


I have to say though. What's wrong with 4th edition codexes? I play with one every day. Is it really that bad to have a less than OP book?

I knew a few guys that play 5th edition codexes and are new to the game. They are automatically out. Space marines are 5th

Even if he wanted to run a 4th tournament if popular demand wanted 5th it'd be 5th. I don't see what all the fuss is about.

There aren't any OP books. There are books that have less options though. Also known as 4th edition books. I play with two armies that lack options and it gets old. So I switch back and forth until I build a new one.... which is in the works... muahahahahahahahaha....

if square bases are what the models came with then they may be used. GW sells appropriate bases for cheap.

Well technically they do come with both so I'll take that as an OK to go
