Infantry Aces Campaign
Ok since a bunch of us have shown interest in an Aces Campaign, and I know Joel bought the whole map kit for us some time last year. (Caesar and I briefly mentioned to him we would be interested and he took that as me telling him I would run one) I think we should start with this one. I'm on summer break so I'm more than happy to run it, but because this is more casual I'm playing too.
My big question is do we want to keep this semi-historical and keep this to Germans, Americans, and British maybe only using the Cassino book and generic lists out of Turning Tide, Earth and Steel, Gray Wolf (because those are all books with the new adjusted points). If this keeps anyone from playing we will certainly work something out, but I'm under the impressions that everyone can make up to 900pt lists of one of those three Nations.
Also because of the small point totals I want to encourage painting so an extra xp points will be rewarded every round you play your first game with a fully painted list.
Building Your Force
All the rules listed below are condensed versions of the ones from Cassino I didn't make these up.
As the name implies Infantry aces are battles between infantry companies only.
Each force will get their infantry ace. This is a warrior that replaces your 1IC and will gain experience and abilities as outlined in Cassino.
Being an escalation campaign each turn we will increase the amount of points in a game and remove restrictions
When creating your list please write it down on an Company Chart where you will record the development of your force and abilities of your Ace
Company Chart: http://www.flamesofwar.com/Portals/0/Documents/InfantryAces/CompanyChart.pdf
Turn 1: 500pts
• Lists can only be made up of Company HQ, Combat, and Weapons Platoons.
• No support
• Goat Trails & Mules: Gun teams that are not Immobile may be carried by pack mules. When using pack mules, a Gun team becomes a Pack Mule Transport team and moves as a Man-packed Gun team.
• Fortifications: If your company can take fortifications, it may do so even if they are not listed as a Combat or Weapons platoon option
• No Country for Tanks: Your company cannot field platoons equipped with Tanks or Transport teams. The only exception is that Pioneer supply vehicles can deploy their fortifications then must be sent to the rear.
Turn 2: 700pts
• Same rules as above with the changes below
• You may now include support platoons
• Secure the Objective: Only combat and weapons platoons may hold or contest objectives
Turn 3: 900pts
• Same rules as above with the changes below
• Moving Foxholes: Your force may include up to one platoon with armored vehicles, up to five of which may be tank teams. This is the basis of the rule for clarification refer to pg 140 of Cassino

Re: Infantry Aces Campaign
The Green Devils, 1st Fallschirmjager division is ready to go!
Although keeping the game historically would be really cool, I would recommend not excluding anyone that wanted to play.
Do all games have to played at the store? Are you going to have a set time for gaming?

Re: Infantry Aces Campaign
Ok any list it is then
I still need to run this by Joel as far as getting access to that pack with the maps and pins and all the cool little things (a bonus but not necessary). Don't see why he would say no this will be awesome for new players.
As far as when games will be played I'd like to start in a few weeks to give everyone notice. Tentitavly Sunday, May 27th. Then each round will be 2 weeks to get your games in.
As far as where games are played. I should be there thursday nights with the usual crew maybe Sundays as well. If you play there I'll keep track of the scoring and put it up on the map. Out of store games are fine by me results will just need to be e-mailed and I'll post them up. Each time I'm at the shop I'll take a picture of the map as it stands so everyone will know how their doing.
My one request is since Joel will sorta be supporting the game that you get in one game a turn at the store. That should keep everyone happy.

It's important to note that your army is an infantry co. I'll be jumping in as some sort of American. Not sure what yet.

My son and I will play. We can play as both british or play a Soviet or German company if it's needed to balance things out.

Re: Infantry Aces Campaign
Excellent! I'm happy with all the enthusiasm.
As Cesar said its INFANTRY Companies only. Mechanized and Armored are a no go. Once I have a start date I'll have a deadline in which round 1 lists need to be in so I can approve them.
Julian - I think by this point you have enough Brits for a 5 man team lol

Re: Infantry Aces Campaign
I'll snag a book from someone on Thursday. I'm all for letting soviets play. If I see something that may break the special ace rules then I'll veto it. But more likely than not it's cool. I'm not entirely sure the campaign was built with soviets in mind, but we'll make it work for sure

Re: Infantry Aces Campaign
Hey the first game is only 500 pts..... And you can only have combat and weapon platoons... does that change things? IF not im bringing 3 bottles!
But I do have a question, I thought that 500 pts games allowed players to build a list with only 1 combat platoon and not the mandatory 2. But I can't find that in any of the Cassino Rules. Anyone know?

Forget about that last question. I found the answer in the BF forums.
The answer is that you must still have 2 Combat Platoons in your 500 pt. list.

Yeah, all that was 500 points, on the dot. The infantry and the maksim heavy machine guns are the two combat platoons, the Guns are a weapons company

Re: Infantry Aces Campaign
I've always been interested in getting into FoW. This may be a good opportunity to join in. I have someone who is offering me a good amount of FoW stuff, so I may just take the plunge. Only downside is driving to Miami every week, but I can deal with that (depending on work schedule).
