Warmachine vs. Hordes
Not to bite off our FTL counterparts, but they are thinking of doing a 4000point battle, in which each faction is represented by a 1000 point list. It pits the countries of Warmachine vs. the armies of Hordes. I will be participating in it, hopefully, as the person playing Khador.
I think we should have something like that here in Miami. We can start small. 1400 point armies, basically 350 for each faction. Do we even have each army represented? Ed/Cryx; Laz,Cesar,Rick/Menoth; I/Khador; Art,JC/Cygnar; Frawgg,Ray/Trolls; Ashe/Circle; Stephan/Skorne; Mario,Rob/Legion. Ed is leaving soon so Cryx is vacant, but maybe if we hurry. Stephan did you order your Skorne yet?
Well, just a thought.

Sorry Guy, I don't understand the math. Are you talking two players playing 350 points versus two players playing 350 points? that's a 700 point game. could you explain a bit more?

I think he means a 4vs 4 battle. Each player represents a faction in hordes or Warmachine.

Re: Warmachine vs. Hordes
I ordered about a thousand points worth of Skorne. Should be getting there on the Black Friday. Not sure how long it'll take me to put shit together, since i"ve been hearing alot of moaning and groaning about how difficult it is.
Supposedly my shieldwall unit the Cetrati alone will take a buttload of time cause of all the banner flags that they wear. 6 each !

Gotcha Guy.
Now my question is...how do you handle multiple copies of the same caster?

That can't happen 'cause each player has a different faction.

Well shithead, YOU stated a 1400 point game. that would say that each player was playing 1400 points. not a 4 player 350 point free for all.

Re: Warmachine vs. Hordes
hmm, you bring up a good point Ray. Let me check my original post.
nope i think I mentioned the part of the point composition. Now who epic failed? and yes as JC was nice enough to explain. You can't have multriple casters if you have different factions.

Re: Warmachine vs. Hordes
hrm, well, 1400 point armies would be 1400 points per person, yet you're talking about 350 points per person. poor communication=epic fail1400 point armies, basically 350 for each faction.
I understand now that we have worked through your poor communication.

My communication skills? Your reading comprehension, you mean. It's right there in plain English, "350 per faction." Oh wait, my bad. I used English. Here do you understand this better:
"Herf, Derf, duh!" "350 doh little men"

Hey Morons.
The issue has been cleared up already. Now stop prodding each other like sadistic warlocks and faggetaboutit. Otherwise someone might start to feel really insulted.

I own all factions for WM and Hordes. Let me know if you need me to participate.

Tell us your thoughts on how Hordes generally fares against WM armies. From what I've seen, WM just has too many uber builds for hordes to deal with.
Like the Bile Thrall/ Bane Knight/ Bane Lord Tartarus lists.

Re: Warmachine vs. Hordes
I'm a fan of the "combos" like you would find in Magic. I liked Magic, just found it got too expensive after years of playing. I see some of the combos in WM/H, I like it.

Re: Warmachine vs. Hordes
Ya, know... The more and more I learn about this game, the more and more I think of it as a 3 dimensional version of Warlord. Maybe that's why Guy and Art like it so much.
Let's face it, as far as game play itself, Warlord kicks ass. It is a fun game. Only problem, like every card game, is that it's collectable, and some cards are hard to find, and when the game resets you have to start collecting all over again.. blah blah blah...
But here are the similarities.
Both games rely on a strong leader figure ( unlike Magic, in which case YOU are the caster )
Both games have clearly defined factions (unlike magic, where factions are not so clearly defined and decks are based on Mana color.
Both games rely on the synergy between the leader and his/her minions.
Both games emphasize keeping your leader safe, because if he/she dies, the game is basically over.
Both games emphasize combo's thereby providing an impetus for the "metagame" the game within the game.
Both games have a power structure, where you have your pee ons, your lightly powerful minions, your heavy hitters, and then your Uber Monstrosities.
Lastly, each model/card in both games has one or 2 different abilities or sometimes more, that are usually integral to developing a winning strategy.
That's probably where the similarity stops because after all, there are hundreds of differences as well, as one would expect.

Depends, Hordes from what I've seen in regular games tends to actually perform much better than WM armies.
Warmachine in competitive games like tournament matches will generally win out because people pull out the cheese lists and WM being older has lot more units and options to play with and exploit. Hordes just doesn't have the access to as much versatility so overpowerd lists like the Bane horde lists are pretty hard for them to stop with the absolute synergy. Warmachine has more "meta" gaming potential for people to make power gaming lists.
But whenever I've played or seen others simply take their random or basic list they play for fun, the Hordes armies often will win out. Or if they got Legion just give up

Re: Warmachine vs. Hordes
Hordes are just as competitive as WM. As Kyle stated, WM has more models out but Hordes is catching up.
A typical Circle Kruger list will annihilate the the Bile Thrall/ Bane Knight/ Bane Lord Tartarus lists. Everything in this game has a foil. You just have to figure it out for each faction.
