Hahaha, I think everyone has been shocked into speechlessness. I like the brass and blue details, but why green wrappings?

Luis I am so proud of you. You actually paint well. Why do you waste your talents...by not painting.

Re: Starting my Tomb Kings
Awww..you guys gonna make me blush.
Well..im a bit on the color blind side, so i thought it would match, and i didnt have any other color to drop on it i bought some shadow gray that i think will look better than the green.
Im working on the Tomb Guard next, im horrible with the small details though, my hand starts shaking...must be all that Cuban coffee.

Re: Starting my Tomb Kings
Luis, it looks great...
For the armor, put a little flesh wash on it, then a dry brush of gold again and the recesses will jump out, plus they'll look old and weathered as TK should. I liked the green wrapping...ink with some green, then drybrush with a lighter green (used to be Bubonic Green -- they changed the name since) and they'll look great.
Either way, good job and great to see that you're painting those guys...no sense losing out on money in tournaments because you haven't painted, right???

If the camera is set to take night photos you get that hazy look. Set it to auto.

Re: Starting my Tomb Kings
For desert patter, I like Snakebite leather, with Sand for flock. If you can't find any sand, go to a railroad hobby store...there's one off US-1 between SW 112th St and SW 128th if memory serves. Or, you can get it online. Or...you can just put some from the beach in a tupperware and use it!!!luis the young wrote:Thanks for the adviced

Good job Luis, I'm proud of you.
A trick I use to stay steady for the details is to push the base of your palms together.

Maybe I just woke up and I don't have my wits about me; but, I beg your pardon? How exactly do you steady your brush?

I understood that you place the palm of the hand holding the brush on top of the palm of the other hand, this may provided a support as you get those little details in.

Don't waste money on modelling sand though! I live right by the beach and can get you a jar that'll last for the whole army. Just let me know.

Exactly - Both elbows on the table with the model palm supporting the brush palm. Pressing together a little extra helps even more.
God knows what Cesar was dreaming about!

Re: Starting my Tomb Kings
Maybe someone could put together a color-wheel type thing (using GW color names) and explain complementary and contrasting colors concept for our color-blind friend??

Re: Starting my Tomb Kings
looks good! I'd suggest you give the skull and gold decorations another coat though.
Luis, have you given drybrushing a try? The tattered purple robes would look awesome with a simple drybrushed highlight.

Re: Starting my Tomb Kings
Nice Luis - I think your better at this that you give yourself credit for.
Now that you have the prototype - I'd suggest working the whole unit at once with each color. Much faster than doing them 1 by 1.
Also, remember dipping works great on TK. Especailly the metal.
