Re: 40K Tournament on August 29th
Lets stick to 1850 since it is the tournament standard.
Anyone want to play 2nd instead of 5th? I miss my 5 consecutive invulnerable saves. That was fun.
I just had a cool idea for a future tournament. You have two 1000 pt detachments. They can be different races. The wargear will only affect the same race as the model using it, so no casting fortune on Thunderhammer Termies. Basically one person to a team.

Re: 40K Tournament on August 29th
Hrm well if it was a full chart yes. I guess I was thinking in terms of the team tournament chart which is 1 HQ 0-1 Elite, 0-3 Troops, 01- Fast, 0-1 Heavy. I don't really see a problem with taking more than what you are normally allowed in a normal game of 40k since only Troops are scoring. That should balance out the insanity that a player will have to face if he is fielding something normal against someone super spamming. I think it would be best to stick to the team tournament chart though to keep with the concept of using two of your armies at the same time.

Another idea I really like is a Highlander tournament where you can only have one of any unit or two if it is a troop.

Re: 40K Tournament on August 29th
okay, so its 1850 5th edition, when u say the tourney size is 1850 standard thats fine, george and i were talking to joel and it turns out GW is going in the direction of 2000 points standard ( another way to make money i guess), if that interests anyone else

I kind of like 2000, gives a little bit more wiggle room.

The 2000 point's they're leaning for is actually about time consumption. The standard time allotted for a game at a tourney is 2hours and 45 minutes. We're usually done in about an hour and a half. The fantasy players are really the ones that use up most of that time. You could say it's about money, but how much does it really cost to add 150 points to your force?
That said are there any slots left open for this tourney?

Re: 40K Tournament on August 29th
Can the store fit a 6th table? When I started the Planetstrike thread there was some grumbling about adding more players.
Top ranked players will be playing outside in the heat so remember not to max your first game! *evil laughter*
Yeah I wish 2000 was the standard. There are no more GTs so I don't know how GW will get the word out. I'll start a poll to see what points level people want to play.

Unfortunately I cannot connect names to online nicks. Maybe it is better if Chris organizes these tournaments.

Really? on both of those statements. Usually bigger events go 2.5 hours and LGS seem to go no more than 2 hours. Regardless of what time limit it seems like 1 to 2 games go to time. I think if you gave people 3.5 hours there would still be one table struggling to finish turn 4 or 5.

I can't think of a player slow enough to need more than 2 hours at an 1850 point level. Maybe I play fast?
