What mandatory troops or elites, heavys etc. what is the exact time on the 9th of Jan do we need to be there? How soon do you need an army list. I need two slots for the tourament at sunshine. please e-mail me at shopkins33031@yahoo.com
Just use the normal Force Organization Chart. Must have 1 HQ and 2 Troops, can have 1 more HQ and up to 4 more Troops unless your codex says otherwise(Chaos Daemons, Space Wolves). Then you can have 3 each of any of the Elites, Fast, or Heavy sections.
The tournament will start at 1:30 with 150 minute rounds. If you show up late and there is an opponent for you to play then you just start a game with less time to play it. We will have 15 minute breaks between rounds so we will be done no later than 10pm.

ALLLLL RIGHT! List is done and I'm ready for Saturday! 2000pt's! Should be silly fun! heh BTW bear with me as i shake of the rust after not playing for a little over a year. If anyone has the small portable rule book or a PDF file that they could e-mail me so i can print it and bind it @ work that would be SWELL!!

Re: 40K Tournament on Jan 9th
Space Wolves FAQ is out but it doesn't really make much difference to what people have been doing. Really long for not much reason. Very disappointing that they went for RAW over RAI with Njal.

Re: 40K Tournament on Jan 9th
furious charge but no defensive grenades is bullshit. Thats more of an errata than a fucking faq.
I hate when GW breaks the rules with their fucking faq. Include it in an errata or something, god damn.
Wolf of the wolf wolf effecting jetbikes, needing los, and picking out independent models is all bs.

Yeah the faq is a little quirky. I don't use any of the shit that was faq'd so I could care less

Re: 40K Tournament on Jan 9th
I'm just going to roll up the missions randomly from the book, i just realized these missions are too complex for newer players and i don't know how many copies to print. Plus not alot of people seem into the 3 objectives thing so lets keep it simple and fun.

Re: 40K Tournament on Jan 9th
We had a great turn out with 16 players. I used a win-draw-loss system with bonus points for tie breakers but it was really annoying to keep track of. Is anyone ready to step up and run the next one?
We didn't start till almost 2pm. From now on I suggest we begin sign up and payment at 12:30 and determine pairings at 12:55. The first game can start at 1pm and anyone who shows up late can jump in with other late comers or the odd man out. I tried doing 2 hours and 30 minute rounds but people were still on the bottom of 4 or top of 5. From now on I will call dice down at 2 hours 30 minutes and determine victory from that point. As always I warm players at 1 hour left, 30 minutes and 15. I will warn/suggest players not to start a new turn at 30 minutes unless they feel they can do it quickly.
From now on I will be using a margin of victory for all missions. Whenever I am running the tournament I will roll for an objective and deployment for mission 1, roll from the remaining 2 objectives and deployments for missions 2 and the third mission will automatically be the remaining objective and deployment. Below is examples of the margin of victory that can be obtained during these missions.
For example: you get/they get
Massacre 20 0
Major V 17 3
Minor V 13 7
Minor Loss 7 13
Massacred 0 20
In kill points having more than the opponent would be a minor, three more than them a major and 5 more than them a massacre. With Seize Ground 1 more counter than your opponent is a minor, 2 more a major and 3 a massacre. For Capture and Control you get a minor for controlling an objective while preventing your opponents scoring unit from holding one by contesting it. If they have no scoring unit on one but you control one you get a major and a massacre for controlling both.

Re: 40K Tournament on Jan 9th
Results!!!
Yeah, some of the stuff your talking about with the tournament recap is some of the ways we run them on the Fantasy side of things. Sometimes you've just gonna lay down the law with tournaments, and be ready to run around a lot!
Glad to hear it went well with a bid turnout though!

Re: 40K Tournament on Jan 9th
Oh yeah, results are good.
1st Nick with Nurgle
2nd Juan with Orks
3rd Me with Marines
4th Charlie with Marines?
5th Josh with Space Wolves
Another thing is there will be multiple rules judges but that is a pretty formal title for what is the norm. And that is less experienced players ask vets for help. Josh, Nick, Chris and myself all know the rules pretty well so I'll ask players to ask the closest one of us they see.

Re: 40K Tournament on Jan 9th
Nope, don't have a working camera. I was tempted to take pics with my cell phone at the beginning of each of my and peter's turns for our game since his Space Wolves look so awesome. Then I realized the pics would be a little shaky and on a camera and I didn't want to slow the game down.
