June 2nd Tournament *Results*
Luis in first. Joel owes you store credit.
Phil in second
Bill in third for a blister most likely.
Hope everyone had fun, will be trying something different soon. Will let everyone know soon.
Well, spoke with Joel today and he is a go for this. June 2nd from 6:30 to 9:30pm. It will be Kill Teams from Battle Missions book.
FOC is
200 points
0-1 Fast
0-2 Troop
0-1 Elite
Each match will be one hour.
Each model will be its' own individual unit.
You can select three models and give them each one universal special rule; though you can only pick each rule once.
All individual models can split both assault and shooting attacks up. Say if a weapon is assault or heavy 3, it could divide those attacks up.
No deep striking or reserves permitted.
The hope is to bring more people into the fold at Joel's. 200 points should allow more people to play and try the game out.
Deployment is table quarters on 4x4 board, nine inches from center.
The moment one falls below 50% on models, you start making a leadership test and it goes down by one every turn until one side fails. Then it is game over.
One last thing, No vehicles.
Feel free to ask any questions.
Also, let me know who wants in.

Daemon rules require me to split my force and deep strike in.
How do you want to handle that?

Every model must start on board. Even Daemons and any models that must start in reserves or enter by deep strike, must be deployed first turn.

Re: June 2nd Tournament *Results*
I just want to clarify.....
If I field 5 horrors, each will be an individual unit?
Can each have an unit upgrade?
Can I field less than the normal unit minimum size?

Have to meet minimum points for unit. Only three can be upgraded.

Almost forgot, all individual models can split both assault and shooting attacks up. Say if a weapon is assault or heavy 3, it could divide those attacks up. So one shot wouldn't be wasted on say one ork boy.

The upgrades are in addition to the normal special rules the model has?
Is there a "Kill Team" rule doc that I can review to see if I can answer my own questions?

Re: June 2nd Tournament *Results*
Lets say you have a unit of 5 demonettes, 3 of them can be freely upgraded with an universal rule.
Example: One with Feel no Pain, other with Preferred Enemy, the other with Tank Hunter.
I belive this is how it works, not sure if there is a Kill Teams Doc anywhere.

Re: June 2nd Tournament *Results*
Got ya -
but what about my Bolt of Tzeentch upgrade that can usually go to one model for 10 points. I can still do that, but only to one of the 5?
and to confirm, if I want 2 units - I need both to meet the minimum size of 5? That won't leave me room for much else.
Without deep strike and the guarentee to shoot first - horrors should not be 17 points per model.
I think I need to request a 50% point discount since you want to remove all major benefits of my army associated with their special deployment rules.

Re: June 2nd Tournament *Results*
Unit upgrades remain the same, they can be given to the whole unit. Remember, you DONT have to choose a troop choice, you can get an Elite or a Heavy up to 200 points.
Here is an example.
Elite: Bloodcrushers of Khorne (1#, 50 pts)
1 Bloodcrushers of Khorne @ 50 pts ((C:CD, pp.40 & 83); Unit Type: Infantry; DG: Iron Hide; DGK: Hellblade; sW: Power Weapon; sW: Rending; DGK: Fury of Khorne x1; S: Furious Charge; S: Daemon; S: Fearless; S: Invulnerable!; S: Eternal Warriors)
Heavy Support: Daemon Prince of Chaos (1#, 145 pts)
1 Daemon Prince of Chaos @ 145 pts ((C:CD, pp.46 & 87); Unit Type: Monstrous Creature; DG: Iron Hide; MC: Mark of Tzeentch; DGT: Soul Devourer; sW: Power Weapon; S: Daemon; S: Fearless; S: Invulnerable!; S: Eternal Warriors)

Re: June 2nd Tournament *Results*
I got that. I don't think I can make this work though.
5 horrors w/ 1 Bolt of Tzeentch (max allowed) is 95 points
10 Orks w/ Shootas in a Trukk! is 95 points
The horror cost accounts for my ability to pop out of thin air within range and blast you. If you take that away - they are 18" range T3 sitting ducks.
The MAX wounds I can get on my list at 200 points is 12 and I get no vehicles. If I loose the roll to go first, I probably never get a turn.

Remember Kill team is played on a small table and the sides start loser to each other. Range is not much of an issue when your starting almost on top of each other.
Most vehicles are not even a good idea for kill team due to cost, the cheap ones being fairly easy to bust especially with how close you can start.

Re: June 2nd Tournament *Results*
You are being entirely too pesimestic. You don't have to take horrors or boys. Alot of other things can fit into 200 points. Remember alot of other people are in the same boat as you. No on else can deepstrike and have to deploy all units. I will be in sunshine if you want some practice or have any questions. Laters:)

Re: June 2nd Tournament *Results*
I'm pesimistic because you are just dumping all over my codex. Chaos Daemons are tied to deep strike and reserve rules like no other codex. You can't just take them apart.
I have a whole bunch of codex rules that take place ON MY FIRST TURN that your just asking me to trash and ignore without any compensation back for benefits lost.
The Daemon Codex says you deep strike in "even when rules do not permit deep strike". That is accounted for in their costs. I'm loosing all tactical placement advantages this give me.
I'm also loosing my always shoot first benefits because I'm not suppost to be on the table until I'm ready to shoot you.
The Codex says I divide my forces and keep half in reserve. I'm loosing safety, flexibility, and further deployment options.
Once again, this is all represented in their cost. The cheapest Deamon model you can field is 14 points per. No matter what - I can't field many.
So what I'm asking is that if you want to take away many of my beneficial rules FROM MY CODEX, how do you plan to compensate me for that?

Re: June 2nd Tournament *Results*
Normally that applies to scenarios that just don't like deepstriking as allowed. I believe unlike normal scenarios Kill Team is written just saying it's not allowed, but not sure, as other things like Drop pods could then be used in Killteams and that just does not seem right.
