photocopy the other scenarios from someones book, not really a big deal to not have the scenarios. Otherwise it's supposed to be the full rules minus the large amount of hobby and fluff material. September for the box set apparently.

The Mini has always contained the full rules, minus some fluff.
I doubt that will change.

I'd rather hold out for the starter set. I don't like the big book I have now.

Played a game of 8th with Garm today, we both got to the store and opened up the rulebook and digested the non-fluff portions.

It was pretty entertaining, I must admit. He played his Beastmen, I used my Wood Elves.

I thought the new rules for forests were highly entertaining, but since "entertaining" is a big no-no for WARHAMMER SERIOUS BUSINESS, I can easily see those being house-ruled out of the game. Least for tournaments, anyway.

And hey, the random charge range and buckets of power dice for magic are not totally game-breakingly bad! I daresay the extra casting was a big more fun! Shock!

Either of you take a level 2 wizard with Lore of Beasts and the scroll that makes all doubles irresistible force?

Throw 7 dice and summon a T7 dragon for 150pts? Fuck yeah.

I took my run-of-the-mill magic defense and his only wizard ended up getting thunderstomped or whatever it is by a Treeman.

Dude, I'm totally doing that next game.

EDIT: Yeah he got stomped, but not before I made that forest totally devour your Wardancers. >=|

"25% max lords (includes mounts)
25% max heroes
25% MIN core
50% max special
25% max rare

Just so I am clear on this, as there has been some misunderstanding, you can have a lord level character leading a small army if you want to (within the points), you don't have to take a hero as you do currently. I have heard nothing about unit champions being the general

You have to take a minimum of 3 units, not including characters.

Categories for core/special/rare are remaining.
Special Choices: No more than 3 of the same type - Examples; No more than 3 units of Chaos Knights, or 3 units of Forsaken etc in the same army.
Rare Choices: No more than 2 of the same type - Examples; No more than 2 Hellcannons, or 2 Chaos Giants etc in the same army.
High Elves ignore all these restrictions as they have the Elite Army special rule.
These numbers are increased when having games of 3000 points or more. (Up to 6 special and 4 rare) Could be +1 of the same type of special and rare per 1000pts."

Yeah... it's gonna be quite interesting at the tournament level.

Spent around 2.5 hours going through the book today at Joel's. I'm very undecided at this point if I'll keep it or not, the game I mean.

Selling Tomb Kings if you're interested. Painted army + unpainted army lots, deal if you buy both. Have the army book as well...didn't you see my post at https://splinterfaction.forumotion.com/free-trade-area-f10/endre-needs-a-car-sale-cheap-tomb-kings-cheap-skaven-lower-prices-t3213.htm ?

Yea but aren't they do for an army book and model update? I would rather get an army that won't be changing anytime soon.

Everything is getting an overhaul for 8th eidtion on the 10th (released with the book)

I read most of the new rules with the gang today. Warhammer of the Ring is in full swing. Magic is high risk/reward. I'm sure it will still be fun!
