So spraying varnish on after painting the base will keep the sand from falling off?

Re: Basing help
I use elmer's glue or somethng like that product spread it over the scratched up base not watered down then smoosh it into what I am using as basing material. then water down the glue and brush it on top.
This same process works great on the new movement trays. the glue fills the gaps so you do not have to worry as much about the perfect side fit.
Things I have used to give the rough base.
Cream of wheet
any seasoning from the kitchen
sand
take a litle of all of the above and make a mix to dip bases into works great to give differnt texture on the base. prime and paint.

Re: Basing help
Elmer's Glue as well. Model glue is too thin for basing.

Re: Basing help
I do use elmer's glue, sand keeps falling off. Is there a spray glue I can use for the top.

Re: Basing help
What do you mean by "ink it"? Will priming the base after I apply the sand keep it together?

Re: Basing help
Coarse price from an art store. I use it on my FoW models. It looks great. I paint it a brown and dip it. it looks like churned up mud.

Re: Basing help
Joint Compound is another good option, especially when you need to fill slot gaps.

Re: Basing help
I use undiluted glue for sand and pack it down. Yes it might be more work (and messy), but you will do int once.
