WH 40K Tournament Nov. 6
I will be running a Warhammer 40K tournament on NOVEMBER 6, 2010.
I will be running Adepticon missions with point modifiers.
Sign up here. Lists due 3 days in advance. (via Private Message)
Overall scoring will be based upon:
1) Battle Score
2) Sportsmanship
3) Army Composition
I want to introduce Painting soon but for now we will have a best painted squad award!
Questions, comments or concerns please post them here.

Re: WH 40K Tournament Nov. 6
I really hope people can bring what they want to play with. I believe under comp score; that something like the first mission could hurt by neglecting foc slots?

Max has told me that he'll be doing 2,000 PTs, unless he's changed his mind. I wouldn't worry too much about the FAQs or Comp. Score or anything, but I'll keep yelling at him until he posts information.

Re: WH 40K Tournament Nov. 6
Sorry fools!
YES IT'S 2,000 POINTS!
I will be doing Adepticon missions. I don't know I'll pick some I've played before and enjoyed! Don't worry the missions are not biased.
I've read over the INAT FAQ and like the rulings so that will defiantly be in effect.
Comp score is basically to give needed points to fluffy lists and bring down cheesy lists that have three trygons, swarmlord with retinue and 9 hiveguard.
If that's your style then GREAT! However, don't expect to get a better score than someone who comes in with a generic space marine commander, one whirlwind, one predator and a random terminator squad!
-Comp only will be 1-10 additional points to your overall score.
-Battle points for each game you have the opportunity to win 22-3 points a round!
-Sportsmanship will be another 1-(to lets say)20 points. (AND I expect everyone to get 15-20 points unless you turn over the table!)
-I'm going to have a best painted category for single miniature or squad which will be given store credit!
-Time table will be 12~7:30
12-12:30 registration and list verification
12:30-2:30 Game 1
2:30-4:30 Game 2
4:30-5 Break
5-7 Game 3
7-7:15 painting competition and PRIZES!
7:15-7:30 Gloating and bullshit
Any further questions?

Re: WH 40K Tournament Nov. 6
There should be at least a 5 to 10 min break between rounds to let horde players move to a other table. That way they don't affect the next player who is waiting to use the table he is at.

Re: WH 40K Tournament Nov. 6
Max, we need the specifics about comp please. Not just "your list is cheesy". It takes at list two weeks for me to have a solid list. Will it be redundancy in an FOC slot or anything really specific? Please let us know as soon as you can please.

Yep, tourneys are supposed to rock hard. Not hand out lollipops and say good game. Tourneys need to be shark infested waters IMO.

Re: WH 40K Tournament Nov. 6
Basically, a good comp score will be given to an army that has almost no repetition in it, and some uncommonly used choices.
Comp is theoretically the basis of the codexes. The codexes are supposed to present lawful, fluffy, compy choices.
I will be lenient and will basically use this guideline:
Everyone starts with 10 Comp points.
-1: Special Characters
-1: Duplicate units (Troops do not count)
-1: more Elites, Fast Attack, or Heavy support than Troops
+2: 6 Troop choices
Off the top of my head that seems like a pretty easy and fair way of achieving a unbiased fair playing field.

Yeah... have you ever read the Necron codex? Half of their WWB rules relies on having duplicate units, and their troops are absolute shit. So...yeah.
Please explain how this is an "easy and fair way of achieving a unbiased fair playing field."

Re: WH 40K Tournament Nov. 6
Very true, comp is ideal but is auto fail for some. Especially Necrons. This comp nerfs them even more and would make their units unplayable. That's how WWB works. Doesn't work unless another same unit is close by. So does that mean Necrons can't play this tournament? Would they be the only exception to this comp?Vycem wrote:"Off the top of my head that seems like a pretty easy and fair way of achieving a unbiased fair playing field."

Re: WH 40K Tournament Nov. 6
That's not the point. To be competitive with Necrons, you need redundancy to survive and allow WWB roles. Troops are the worst in game right now. Destroyers and wraiths are one of the only units than can get something done. Not taking more than one unit for any necron (not just warriors) unit will not allow you to make any WWB roles for that unit, should it get hit. This tourny comp score does not allow a Necron player to play in the tourny. Guess we should find out if there are any actual Necron players wanting to play.
