Ig list help for friend

So i've been playing against my friend and just been slapping him silly in 1k point matches. The list he is running is something around this

CCS with master of the ordence, heavy wep team and chimera

ttwo ten man veterns with two plasmas/ meltas and 1 plasma/melta (depeneding on the squad) and heavy wep team with auto cannon. both in chimera

x2 leman russ vanquisher ( and he has gone through a few different ones, yet i'm still able to pop them no problem.)

My list is around this

Hq:
Farseer with jetbike, fortune, RoW, and Spear
three warlocks, one with spear and enhancement, and two regular locks.
Autarch w/ fusion gun, power sword, mandiblasters, jetbike.

Troops:
two 6 man jetbike squads with 2 Shuriken cannons

Heavy:
one fire prisim with holo fields and stones and the other with just stones.


Now he has only played against me but any advice to give him and what he can do with a list with what he's got there?

gimme the exact squads, this is important for me, so I see how he's orginized his squads. Also, mind telling me what heavy wep is in the CCS?

from what I can see of his list these are my comments:

First: If you are placing a master of the ordinance in the CCS and a Heavy Weapon Team, don't bother with the chimera, use the points from it to upgrade your vets with carapace armour or cameloline (carapace recommended)

Second: Take out autocannon heavy weapons Squads from the melta squad, the autocannon will only slow that squad down, which basiclly lives off mobility.

Third: Overall boom-factor of the list is low: upgrade the tanks to Leman Russ MBT and considerinvesting the extra five points to give your tanks something nice...

I would have to see his actuall defacto list in order to give a full critic of it...but thats just what I see right off the bat.

I think the ccs heavy wep was a lascannon or something, , he was using the movemnt of the chimera to pop up ontop and use the autocannons from the squad. But as for exact list, i might be able to get it later on tonight.

for starters he plays guard a bit awkward.
Something that I would advise:

CCS
4 Plasma
Chimera HF/ML

PCS
4 GL

Inf Platoon X2
Gl, Autocannon

Vet X2
3 Melta
Chimera
HF/ML

LRBT X2
Lascannon

Comes out 15 points short that he may spend on some various widgets.
Or he can cut out some extra points to fit a commissar and make a blob of 20 guardsmen that can make a very nice speedbump for your "deathstar".

If IG has first turn, they should direct all fire against the melee unit, otherwise all fire should be concentrated on prisms.

He does not need to really kill prisms just to make sure that they do not fire. He has enough S6+ to glance them into uselessness.

Rest of fire is to be concentrated on your melee unit.

Alternatively he should stun prisms and shoot out one unit out of the sky per turn, he surely has enough power between two lrbts.

Well I did forget to mention that my friend is limited in models. He has 20 guards 3 weps team a 5 6 man ccs 3 chimeras and. 2 lemans

Well, in that case just stick those auto cannons in the squads in rhinos, they can still fire them.
He lost a full platoon from my suggested list, but I think you can let him proxy the models for a bit till he buys them.

A battle force would be a very good buy for him IMO.

I would suggest against bloating the squads with useless gear, one of the strengths of IG is that they can have twice the amount of troops for the same price as the next guy. unless the guy is a boy (collecting orcs.. get it?).

So his strength will only shine if he gets more of bodies on the table.

Alternatively to buying a battle force, vendettas are a steal. but may cost you arm and a leg.

I agree with everything except the vendetta. Don't get me wrong, they're awesome .... until they get shot. And they will get shot, not have a save of any kind, and promptly blow up. Battle force would be best at this stage for him. More bodies for the first thousand points, afterwards fill in with toys.

Well he has bought the battleforce, the only thing he hasn't built is the walker since he doesn't like them at all.
Anybody interested in trading some Ig troops for it lol.

Vendettas do get shot, but it is also a good thing, they attract more fire than a land raider usually, and still sport a reasonable armor.
They should, however, arrive outflanking enemy to get side, or even rear shots and usually return their points back. A turn or two will be secured for LRBT to get some dirty work done.

On a safe note, battle force will be a superb investment all around that will surely help beyond 1000 points.

Id surely be interested in trading, i may have some IG cadians in the garage, i will check tomorrow. And a sentinel would make me happy =).

Walkers are the shit. Give em autocannons , stick 'em in squads of two, and go go gadget rape.

explain that too him lol. but w.e. he wants to run tanks and more tanks. He did mention getting a vendetta/ valkyre when he could.

I might have some guardsmen hanging around that I could part with for the walker, I'll see about forming them up into squads, maybe make a deal for something else I might need...

now what do I need?

lol it's not much he has. You saw him when he was there. Bought the two chimeras and two leman russes, a new chimera and a battlebox i think like two weeks ago.
