Yup that's what they did the first time.

They just need to simplify and streamline the assault rules, rest is fine really.

Simplifying and maybe clarifying a few things would be good! Hopefully the new mini-rulebook won't fall apart the first time I open it.

Maybe a tourney after the new book is out?

It'd be nice if they figured out how to speed up the game a bit. Tone down the difficulty of getting rid of infantry would be a good start. That way 2 infantry companies won't play a 3+ hour game.

They did. Its called Heavy Breakthrough gun and bunkerbuster. No unarmored saves.

I think all 100mm guns and bigger will get it.

If that's true, look out for American infantry companies to get a huge boost.

Only direct fire. Also one man turret rules will change. Now if you move its a +1 penalty to hit as opposed to not being able to fire. Loving my French even more.

Also the big rumor is planes will be more effective in V3, and you will only field one plane now (instead of 3).

Planes wont have to range in if your target is out in the open. If they are in cover youll need to range in.

They going to redo the plane kits if you only need 1 now? Seems pointless to have to pay for three then.

Looks like I may have 2 for sale. Hope they don't make planes more powerful in the game. They weren't used as close air support in WW2. More of an interdiction weapon.

If they keep in the ability to intercept air support with other air support, it will still make it a bit of a gamble that will scare ppl off. Also might make people actually take dedicated AA more now which in itself would be another factor that scares ppl away from air support and rather take artillery instead.

I know for sure they will now range in automatically on targets out in the open. If your in cover they range in, but I think they only get one attempt.

So now that artillery we all like to put in the back thats never dug in will need AA protection.

New rules updates!

Transports now have a new ability to drive under fire and deliver troops. They also no longer count against the platoon morale checks.

13 new missions in the V3 rule book.

Wheeled vehicles now go 12 inches instead of 8.

If you have a tank facing sideways but with its turret turned towards the enemy. There is a new save to see if you hit the side of the tank (side armor) or the front of the turret (front armor).

MG teams are now ROF 2 when pinned.

Breakthrough guns are going to be passed down to every 105mm and up gun in the game. This rule will be reflected on the V3 book. So Priests, 105mm Shermans, and etc will have the new breakthrough rule. Also all 80mm mortar americans will get direct fire (as will other armies).

Flame throwers no longer destroy tanks, they now do a fire power check to bail out tanks only.

Guns that are gone to the ground get a 3+ save (instead of 5+ save).

New assualt rules no longer let you do daisy chaining defensive fire. There is a new bubble system that only allows certain units to attack.

A new index that no longer sucks!

And finally there is a new reserve rule:

A mechanize company can deploy up to two full strength armored platoons in games with reserves. An infantry company can only deploy a single full strength armored platoon. And a fortified company can't deploy any.

So this is to prevent people from front loading. In other words, getting cheap platoons in order to add several platoons of tanks.

I like the changes so far. Transports not counting against might make mechanized infantry usable. I hope the changes don't complicate things more in an effort to get more realism and maybe the assaults are a bit easier.

Maybe they'll change the rules regarding Sporadic/limited/etc air support and represent them with 1 2 or 3 planes ?

Planes should be more effective since airpower played such a huge role in so many battles and skirmishes. Shit could you imagine how much harder it would have been to fight through France and italy if the allies didn't have air superiority?
