Sep 27, 1750 Midwar Hurricon Tournament
So I saw this on the FOW forums, I'll post the link to it as well.
Basically it's a Midwar tournament as part of the Hurricon Event day stuff. It's a Nationals qualifier (as it's a regional tournament) for 2009 Nationals. Plus, it's midwar so all your italian folk can get out there and enjoy the gazillion stands of Russian Infantry you'll be facing.
It's on September 27th and in Orlando. Hurricon is part of what HMGS (Historical Miniatures Gaming Society) hosts I believe, which HMGS is an overbranching field for every game under the sun, minus 40k and Fantasy. They've got a bunch of interesting stuff usually (NashCon did at least) but the HMGS South chapter usually holds two events a year, Recon and Hurricon, that I've read about at least.
Either way, they say that there is only a max of 24 possible spots and his last update from a few days ago has alot of spots already filled. Here is the schedule and types of missions they'll be playing:
Saturday, September 27th
Registration & Setup 0800-0900
Game 1 (Encounter) 0900-1145
Lunch / Armies on Parade 1145-1215
Game 2 (Hold the Line) 1215-1500
Break 1500-1515
Game 3 (Breakthrough) 1515-1800
Awards 1800-1815
And the link to the forum site: http://www.flamesofwar.com/Default.aspx?tabid=126&forumid=14&postid=240247&view=topic
Enjoy! I'm going to try to make it if I can get away from school for that weekend. I've also got family in Tampa so it'd be an excuse to visit with them.

Awesome! I think I will be flying down for it cause I have family in Tampa whom I haven't seen in awhile. Maybe I'll stay with them and drive over that way.

The link above is goes to the Battlefront forum, that is the specific thread for signing up. You need to be registrered on the BF forum to get into the thread and be able to post. Yea we could carpool if you wanted that would be great. I was kicking around the idea of going up on Friday and staying at the Hisoricon's hotel. Its only 106 for the night, so that is 53 each plus tax. Let me know if you are interested.

The link doesnt say anything about BF miniatures only. But you would lose 15% for not having your army painted.

Too bad I suck, I would be out by the first round. It would not be worth me sitting out the rest of the tournament. I am trying to improve.

Re: Sep 27, 1750 Midwar Hurricon Tournament
Hehe, I think the Hurricon folks are pretty laid back, but I don't really know since I haven't been to this particular tournament. I know at NashCon everyone had a fully painted army, so that is worth noting.
And there's no out Jerry, it's like any other tournament you just keep playing. I mean at NashCon the guy who won the tournament had a 5-2 loss in the first round. Painting, History, and a 6-1 victory helped get him there, but it's always possible to come back!
