ARVUS Lighter Build
Currently been working on and off with a few projects and finally got something I always wanted. An Arvus lighter. Sure it's not got any firepower but it always makes me think of the old Army Huey that you always see from Vietnam. Anyway, I put off my Thunderbolt and my black reach box set to start on this thing and will most likely be done this weekend or next depending on if I can find my transfer paper for my printer or have to order some more since I'm currently making custom decals for this sucker. Feel free to rip it apart thus far or offer suggestions as I have yet to do the fine details or the rust washes on the scratches and hull interior.
Preview of custom decal I had wife make for Arvus. Image was found on google. Defiantly did not draw this myself. Actually scaled down nice truth be told. just looses a little of the super fine detail.
Coming together. Needs a final rush wash and the detail work as well as finishing the main engines
Pilot with canopy detail interior. Used Blister plastic from a GW fig to make the glass
Bitz and pieces close up
Wing detail to add color to the Imperial Navy color scheme
Custom landing base to simulate take off from ship board.
Preview of model on base.

I love the very realistic looking take off pad as the base... very cool idea.

Re: ARVUS Lighter Build
Any suggestions thus far? Going to put D75 on the wings and the decal of Lady J on the side of the cockpit area with the most available space. Also have to do a rust wash in a few areas to simulate old worn metal vs the frsh scratches and maybe a dry brush chaos black for rentry burn on the under hull platting.
I may do a few more decals but I don't want to go to far since I don't like them and I'm trying to keep this one more basic since in the fluff it says they aren't really dressed up. I also just finished an afterburner effect on the main engines with a blue flamed engine exhasust and used some brass on a few raised areas. looks sweet so far. May be done with everything save the decals tonight.

Re: ARVUS Lighter Build
I'll post some pics;) Anyway went to Michaels and no decal transfer paper so unless I can find some I'll have her 99.9% done minus my lady J decal I want to do. I bought some rubber stamps though to do my D75 on the wings. I am going to try it out rather than use decals to see how it looks. Wish me luck.
On the base Iw as goingt to use some guitar wire to simulate power cables but couldn't find anything I liked to make lights with except maybe the teleporter beacon but I don't wnat to burn up my only one of those. Anyway should look good tonight. Alot of effort for a flying Chimera but still I like it.

Arvus Lighter D75
Well here she is at 90%. I have yet to add rusting effect ontop of the weathering and of course no custom decal yet and a few minor touches here and there as I look it over. Looking for feedback both good and bad or just plain love from the masses. Just got called in to work so maybe there will be some posts when I get back from my Saturday call in from hell:P
Prepping for mission departure
Coming in for a hot landing
Disembark the cargo... Go go go!
The ramp opens with interior detail but left it closed for the shot.

Re: ARVUS Lighter Build
Well last pic for a while till I do the decal and have my wife take the professional level grade pics with my logo. Added the rust with stippling effect to the scratches and a few other minor areas without going to heavy. Also blacked the burn marks on the hull from the jet exhaust.

Re: ARVUS Lighter Build
I love the weathered / battle damage effects you've added in. It gives the model a much more realistic look to it!
Also I think the afterburner effect is fantastic!
I think you need another Imperial Eagle logo somewhere, maybe on the wing or top. It doesn't look like the Emperor owns it with the eagle more prominent in some ways. Then again, thats just me.

Re: ARVUS Lighter Build
I do have the brass etched imperial eagles of various sizes and thought that one on each wing would be a good thing so I may go ahead and do that. It has smaller ones on it. ONe is on the front of the canopy and hten on the underside you have six stoage compartments with an eagle on each of those.
Do you think the each should be on the top or underside of the wings though? Kinda seeing the eagle as it's flying in thing rather than having it on the top side?
Also how do the numbers look? I used a rubber stamp to get the effect.

Re: ARVUS Lighter Build
Just added some Imperial Aquilas on the wings and put an Inquisitorial icon near the cockpit. The only thing left is to add the decal but I'm going to have to order some paper.
Anyway wife is going to take some final pics for me today and I'll post those later.

I have only got to play in two APOC games so I'm hoping for a good one soon that I can field my Hellhammer, exorcist, and this thing in and maybe a few other new models as support to my Templar force. I know the Arvus isn't really a great model especially with the Valkyrie coming out but I like the look and the idea of it. Besides it's a neat piece for using in a Dark Heresy game to I think.
