Apocalypse Game November 14th, 2009
Hello folks,
Saturday November 14th at 11 am there will be an Apocalypse game. Come throw down with the biggest, baddest lists you can. Dig around your closet for all those models you built but never got to try. There will be objectives, as well as hidden goals as two sides collide for supremacy. There WILL be prize support!
Restrictions:
1. There will be a 10 player cap. Please sign up to let me know if you will be making it. This isn't like a regular tournament where you think you might go, sign up, and half the people don't show - last Apocalypse game there were TWENTY people, which was far too much for the store to handle.
2. Tournament starts at 11 am!
3. $10 entry fee.
4. Point limits: NONE. However, bring only as much as you can move/shoot/assault with in a 30 minute turn. At the end of each 30 minute turn, play will go to your opponent. I don't care if you didn't finish your assault phase, it will get resolve right then and there. You brought 9,999 Orks and didn't finish moving them? Too bad. The game is moving on.
5. You can bring units from any army list you want. Have some Eldar and Marines painted up? Great. Have that one Greater Demon you bought on a whim? Bring him down. However, you are NOT allowed to mix psychic powers/wargear/effects/etc across armies. So no, your farseer can't guide your terminators or anything like that. Sorry.
6. Superheavies and Formations are not only allowed, but highly encouraged. HOWEVER, you must run them by me first so that I can assign you properly. I don't want one side to have 6 baneblades and the other to have a swarm of firewarriors.
7. Custom army lists/units are based on my approval, so make sure to contact me if you want to field something custom/fan made/etc. No, you cannot make the Badassinator and bring him in, but if you really have your heart set on a genestealer cult list, I will consider it...just remember to let me see it first! No surprising the game organizer or your opponent.
8. Forgeworld IS allowed, but you must have the Forgeworld rules for it and run it by me.
9. Try to have your Apocalypse stratagems selected in advance. It just makes life easier for everyone.
10. You're allowed to team up with a buddy, but let me know in advance so I can keep you on the same side.
In addition, there is another Apocalypse game on Sunday the 15th for those that cannot make it on Saturday. That game is run by another person and most of the signup will probably be through Joel since it's catering to those gamers who can't play 40k on Saturdays. The one for Saturday is aimed at the regular forum goers since they're the ones that enjoy the traditional 40k day. Note that yes, you can technically play in both apocalypse games, but if you play in one then you will only get to play in the other based on participation. In other words, people who don't play in both will obviously get dibs on spots, so it's highly recommended that you sign up to Saturday's...unless you're a gambling man.

Once we get ten people will the teams be choosen and a general for each side be picked? Just curious so we can make our battle plans.

Re: Apocalypse Game November 14th, 2009
So points are unlimited....but is it literally unlimited? Cause the list I have cooked up (while still making more models I have laying around to play with) I am running up on roughly 8k pts, and the spare bikes I have will all be converted to wolf lords which may run me up to 10k, is this fine? Should there be SOME kind of limitation? or just no limitation what so ever

Re: Apocalypse Game November 14th, 2009
Can you move/shoot/assult them in 30minutes?
I agree though. There should be a limit along with the 30minute rule. Like 4000pts but if you can't m/s/a 4000pts in 30min (orcs, ig?) then drop it down to where you can.

Re: Apocalypse Game November 14th, 2009
Definitely could move them in about 10 maybe (and that's if im eating shit :p)
And yeah, if it's unlimited I have an extreme amount of points I would love to field.
My list is already made, but if we could be informed if there is a limitation (of some sort) let us know in time so I could rethink my strategy and re-do my list.

I think 4,000 sounds like a happy medium.
I think I have enough stuff now to field that much so sign me up.

I actually have a day off on Saturday. I'll be able to bring down my Tau for this! Now to search around and see if I got those Piranhas still somewhere. Maybe even the Vespids.

Re: Apocalypse Game November 14th, 2009
Yeah I thought troops are pretty wack in Apoc. I will be running true renegade marines. Mostly Space Marines with the things they are missing from the Chaos book. They are freshly aligned with the daemonic and have made some pacts with some evil stuff. I just wish I had some Daemon Princes.

Can you literally bring whatever models you want? Is there a limit to the number of factions one person can have in his army? Like could I bring 1,000 points of 4 different factions?

Re: Apocalypse Game November 14th, 2009
Answers to questions so far:
1. Point Limit: I guess I can impose 4000, but honestly, even if you swear up and down you can move more than that points of stuff, fire, AND assault...I don't see it, especially since there's another person rolling saves, assaulting back, etc. Take 4000 as a rough guide, but don't let it limit you per se. As long as I get your point total/list before the game.
2. Nope, everything is scoring. Don't bother with troops if you don't wanna.
3. Regarding splitting up sides and generals, etc...I would love to, but to be perfectly blunt, the last few tournaments we got maybe 30% of the people that signed up to actually show, so it seems to me like a waste of time. Plus I would need to know in advance how many points each person was bringing and what formations/super heavies/etc to split off evenly, because I am balancing this one - one side doesn't get all the baneblades this time around.
If people really want to and PM me their info, I'll split off in advance. As it is, I'm wary.
4. "Can you literally bring whatever models you want? Is there a limit to the number of factions one person can have in his army? Like could I bring 1,000 points of 4 different factions?"
Yes! Feel free to bring 500 points of 8 factions if your heart desires. Have a greater demon you got to paint up? Bring 'im! Bought that one Forgeworld Piece that has NOTHING to do with your army? You get to play it!
But as the rules above state...no mixing and matching gears/powers/etc. It's already good enough that different units from different armies are working in tandem.
