Sooo- I've just started reading the rules so I understand about half of what's on this page. Does something like this function?

That list looks fine. Also try to fit in the Deva hacker instead of the Naga. The -3BTS makes a huge difference for defensive hacking.

The only thing I would suggest is play a few games with maybe 150 points then work your way up to 300 once you have a solid grasp of the special rules. Also, I know its hard with Aleph but try to play the first few games without hackers. Hacking gets complicated fast.

There are tons of special rules and you don't want to overwhelmed from the start.

Hacking also will sometimes not come into play in a game depending on how the battle goes or forces involved. I often don't bother to take a hacker though they can be pretty helpful when they do their job. Doesn't hurt to take them though as many are capable soldiers on their own even if they don't hack.

Ok, so a Deva Hacker if taking a hacker-

What about a Sophotect? Is something like a engineer/medic necessary?

Find it hard to actually pull off heals and repairs in this game. When something dies it's often somewhere you're healer does not want to be or it takes too long to get to where you need to be to fix er up. Never had any success using those abilities.

With all the bots you have though hackers are likely a good idea I suppose.

Besides the Deva hacker though, the list looks pretty solid.

Another option is to make a Deva your LT. Then making your Asura the hacker. This would leave you a few points to upgrade the Tacbot w/ light grenade launcher to a HMG. Just a thought.

The Sophotect has a WP of 15 which is sick and you can use Yudbots for 3 points each to extend the range of the heals or repairs. Read the Ghost: Servant rule in the Human Sphere book to learn all the details.

The Yudbots are Servants which can act for her so she can stay out of harm's way. With an order you can activate one near the model you want to repair or heal and use the Sophotect's WP15. Plus they have CH:Mimetism so the enemy will get -3 to shoot them.

I do have one question. Where is Achilles? Every Aleph should have him. It should be mandetory.

10 pairs of boots on the ground and almost max SWG. Grenades - check. Snipers - check. Cover. Movement 6-4 is VERY fast. Should be a solid list.

Wanted to field chicks, but he's obviously really good for the points. Better than the Asura for not too much more.

Don't make the Asura your LT. Cause if she gets killed you are in big trouble. Looking your LT is a big deal in this game. It kills your orders and you have to be cautious with your LT. For the amount of points that she costs and her abilities she is too good to waste hiding and worrying about getting shot.

Kyle and I had a good game yesterday that helped me learn alot of the key mechanics. It works much like War Machine, everyone shares the basic rules - but you NEED to know all the special rules for your models and army. Mistakes are costly, which is another similarity to WM/H.

Some Highlights -
Between 4 Combat Drop paratroopers, one Yu Jing Tiger Soilder went off board and came back to take down 2 seed soilders; however, the 3 other ADs went off course and landed in enemy fire zones. My 2 were forced to bail out when the Yung ji hacker took over my plane. Good stuff!

A Shasvastii Malignos popped out of hiding with a camando dive roll to take out a scout bot (with discovery sensors!) and another grunt. In the end it was a fast acting Shasvastii Pioneer who closed in and took out the Yu Jing sniper to earn the big shiny medal.

Thanks again Kyle for the game and teaching me along the way!

Was a fun game. The Shasvastii are pretty tough opponents since they don't count as automatic kills when brought down, and to completely remove them for the scoring can be difficult to achieve at a distance.

And yup, it's best when you make your lists and before play, that you try to learn and memorize as best as you can all your stuffs special rules and equipment to speed things up. You will still come into bumps because each list is going to have unique rules and such, but it helps when people have an idea of how their stuff works.

Good game Bill, need to do it again some time.
