Hastey Assault

Stephan and I played a hastey assault scenario Sunday night. He fielded a Soviet Armor company and I fielded a Panzer company with a mix of Mark IV's and 3 Panthers. Very close game, but those IS-2's are just a hard nut to crack. I handled his T-34's well, but the IS-2's were able to take the objective. I did knock out 2 out of the 4. A couple of missed FP checks made the difference. I let my 4 year old roll for my tanks and he demolished one of Stephans Tank platoons in 2 turns, he took out 4 t-34's in round 1. I just picked up 2 Elephant Tank Hunters. I have three now. Im gonna field a Heavy Tank hunter company against his IS-2's next time. Stephan needs infantry. Like I said, if I made a couple of my FP checks that I failed and Id of won. Mind you I didnt lose a single tank til round 3. The IS-2's made all the difference for him.

Assault the is-2s with pioneers. It's cheaper on the list pointswise and are more useful for area control than 3 elephants.

Infantry are the real tank killers. Pioneers or paratroopers can really do some damage to any tank platoon. Add some piats or bazookas for fun.

The more expensive the tank (less available) the easier they die.

Its a neat list and I have an SS Pioneer platoon / Panzerfaust in it. 3 Elephants, A Maultier battery with 5 launchers with extra crew(= 10 guns), A Grenadier platoon w/ panzerfaust, 2 quad 20mm AA halftracks and 1 Panzer pioneer platoon. 1745 points.

Not a bad list and its unique.

Elephants are invulnerable from the front. Just protect the flanks. Artillery and air power are their only weakness. Its a list Id like to and will give a go. It wont be too effective against your commandos ,but an enemy armor company? Devastating I think.

Target artillery with the elephants if tanks aren't around I'd say. That does sound like a neat list though.

Can shermans hurt an elephant from the flanks? Maybe the way to beat elephants is to run them out of ammo or blind them with the smoke from burning tanks.

They have a side armor of 8. Their damn near unstoppable tank to tank. Front armor is 15. It armed with the 88 L71 AT gun. AT16, range 40inch and 3+FP. the are overloaded, slow and unreliable, but who cares. My 2 Pioneer platoons and Grenadiers will hold the flanks. If I trim down the artillery and the Panzer pioneers I can fit in another Elephant. That would be 4 Tank destroyers.

Yes in indirect fire. Nothing can touch them in direct fire.

I ordered my 2 20mm quad flak half tracks from ebay. I gotta paint my SS Pioneers.

Almost done with my SS Pioneers and SS tank hunters platoons. Just have to paint their gear and dip them.

SS Pioneers and Tank hunters are done. I got my Quad 20mm AA halftracks today. Ill have then done by the end of the week...gotta work and take care of my rugrats otherwise Id have them done in a few hours.

Your elephants looked really good. For some reason I don't have a late war allied army. I may have to fix that!

You want a beat down? I have US Paratroopers LW/MW. Not painted yet.

I have to have around 5000+ points in painted LW Germans. I have 12 Panzer IV's alone. I have Wittman and his Tiger company(5 tiger tanks)) painted.

As you mentioned, I gotta get some infantry. Obviously playing the same list against you with 3 elephants in tow would be like going to the dentist knowing that I have a fucking root canal scheduled.

Wonder if I could get some of that God of War artillery going from old glory baby yeah !
