I was looking at those new plastic models. The Romans look really cool. I might have to get me some.

Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
I'd prefer 15mm as it's cheaper and it probably looks more epic.

Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
The 28mm models look really nice but JC is right about the 15mm making it look more epic. But i am still leaning towards 28mm. Not sure tho

Indeed he did. BTW, in those times, all the Greeks and Persians were fruits.

SO, I say if we play this game it should be 15mm 'cause it's pretty cheap to get an army!

Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
Sunshine got the Warhammer Ancients manuals in and some source books.
Two or three of the main book, and one of each the different time period or army, but not everyone though published.
It's like codex's.
He also got some 25/28mm figures in. 30 figures come in a box for about $35 I believe.
I still prefer 15mm. And if I were to get involved, thats the scale I would use.
My LotR campaign will use 10mm.

Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
i'll see if i get me the rule book, and the codex where Carthage comes out, either Carthage or Egypt. I would also much rather play 15mm, i have before and it looks a lot more epic.

Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
can you play different era's or historical periords? Or are you confined to playing only armies from the same time period? Luis have you looked at fields of glory the civil war 15mm games? Which rule book are you getting the warhammer ancient battles or warmaster ancients?

I played the Field of Glory game with 15mm , i had a HUGE confed army, but after not using them for 5 years, i traded them all recently for my Skaven army. I'll get whichever book we are going to be using, i used to have the Warhammer ancients, havent looked at warmaster ancients. I liked the warhammer ancient rules, it works the same with 15mm, 1 base is still one base, it just has 3 little guys on it vs 1 big guy

Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
You can play armies from any period and geographic location against any others. They are "geared" to be more balanced against those from their same era/location, but you can do it regardless. Some armies will have more difficulty against others and some (the Indians with their long bows and elephants come to mind) will be a little over the top, but otherwise, it's very flexible. Might not make much sense historically for an early Roman army to be fighting Samurai, or Chinese, but it does make for an interesting game. Plus, with no magic and no magic items, it's much harder to get characters/units to be too incredibly over the top (the exception being the aforementioned Indians with lots of elephants and longbowmen). At any rate, the Carthage army shows up in the Armies of Antiquities (AoA) book, if memory serves. It can be played at 15mm, though it's designed to be 25-28mm (same size as Warhammer). Hope you guys get into it, as I think you'll find it much more enjoyable and balanced than either WHFB or 40K.Hurricane wrote:can you play different era's or historical periords? Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
yeah, thats the beauty of 15mm figs, you get a bunch for your money. I'll get the books from Joel , but i will prob buy the 15mm minis from this other place because i dont think Joel would start carrying them. I can get some pretty good deals for 15mm.
But if you wanna start a 28mm Roman army, i'll get me the 28mm celts, ive always liked horde armies!
