Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
I understand what you are saying Luis, but at the same time. I don't just want a "handful of dice game" that has no tactical aspect. I've been surfing the net and havent found any historical society that uses the WAB system for tournaments. What kinda bothers me about the whole thing is it doesnt appear that there isn't any coherency in how models are based or what scale of miniatures. It just seems weird. There is another set of rules called DMB and DMA that seems much more simple and quicker play and they run tournaments with these rules. DMA I think is for epic (lots and lots) amounts of models like you like.

Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
here is one review for warhammer ancient battles
http://www.area52.com.au/articles/ttg/warhammer_ancients.htm
I'll be getting the book today at Joels, it plays a LOT like fantsy 5th edition, it was actually based on those rules. Example: general dies, the whole army takes a panic test, some units cause fear-like elefants, you get stubborn and frenzied units, but frenzy as it used to be-double the ammount of attacks. I'll either play it with WAB rules of the FOG rules, dont wanna start buying a bunch of books that i wont have time to read and learn new rules and stuff.
Here is a link i found with a Break down of WAB.

Sorry to butt in, but I have to ask, just for my own curiosity...does WAB have the Merovingian Franks? Say, for example, around the time of Clovis?

you said Butt ...heeh ehe ehehe hehe eheheeh.
seriously though, look a tthis link, it gives you an idea of the army books, i believe it may not have the merovingian franks specifically, but you can create forces from those days.

Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
What about Napoleonics? That's a far more interesting time than Ancients. We should try it out!

Re: Warhammer Ancient Battles?
Napoleonics is awesome!!! I'd play as the glorious French and you'd all play as the smelly peasant hordes of Russia.
